With the Frankfurt auto show a week away, Volkswagen and Nissan have teased photos of crossovers due for unveilings there.

From VW comes a photo of two people holding a sheet shrouding what the company says is the all-new Tiguan compact crossover. This is expected to be a departure from the Tiguan we’ve known since its 2009 debut, with styling previewed in the GTE Cross Coupe revealed earlier this year in Detroit. We hope this finally brings a TDI diesel option to the Tiguan lineup, something that’s been conspicuous by its absence here since the start. Earlier this summer, Autoblog snagged photos of VW testing the new Tiguan in the Swiss Alps.

Where the new Tiguan is a production-ready model, Nissan’s latest crossover is a concept the company suggests will “move the bar higher,” and “create a new way to feel driving excitement.” We think this might be our first look at the second-generation Juke, though the teaser image shows a pretty pedestrian-looking (by Juke standards) front end.

The Frankfurt auto show opens to the media September 15 and 16, so we’ll have more to report a week from now. Stay tuned!
