In partnership with JD Motorsport, Micra Cup aims to be most affordable racing series in Canada
Nissan and JD Motorsport today announced their plans to launch the Nissan Micra Cup in Canada next year, a new spec series that will “bridge the gap between karting and racing” stated the release.
The new series will use base 2015 Nissan Micras prepared by JD Motorsport, with modifications including NISMO S-Tune Suspension Kit, FIA-approved racing seat, 5-point safety harness, fire extinguisher, modified exhaust, high-performance brake pads, safety cage, driver protection net, front and rear towing hooks, and stylized Fastwheels with Pirelli low profile high performance tires.
Since Nissan is aiming to make the Micra Cup the most affordable racing series in Canada, which aligns with their most affordable car status in the Canadian market, the race car can be ordered fully-prepped for $19,998 before taxes.
“The Nissan Micra Cup offers competitors the one of-a-kind opportunity to push the limits and hit speeds they never thought they could behind the wheel of Canada’s most attainable vehicle, the Nissan Micra,” says Christian Meunier, president of Nissan Canada Inc.
“Nissan’s heritage is intrinsically connected to motorsports and dates back to the 1930’s. Therefore, we are proud to return to our roots in such a unique way, and in Canada! Through this collaboration with JD Motorsport Organization we have developed a highly accessible and extremely fun series for the Canadian motorsport enthusiast who has a dream to compete.”
For its inaugural year, the Micra Cup will be limited to the province of Quebec where racers will compete over five race weekends. The series hopes to expand to other provinces in 2016.
