Citroën Cactus and Renault Twingo both get “minivan windows” for the rear

It seems automakers are willing to ditch even the simplest of pleasures in an effort to save weight and stretch fuel economy. Citroen and Renault have gotten rid of roll down rear windows, replacing them with pop-out glass familiar to those of us who’ve spent more than thirty seconds in the back of a minivan.

Pop-out windows do not require all the mechanical gear needed by roll down glass, saving weight, and hopefully giving designers and engineers a little more flexibility in the process.

While this only seems to be a European trend for now, this idea will no doubt travel across the Atlantic at some point.

How often do you roll down your rear windows? Would you miss the feature? Let us know in the comments.
