Likeable CEO was rumoured to leave for Microsoft to replace Ballmer

Rumours have been swirling Ford CEO Alan Mulally could possibly leave the Blue Oval early to take the top post at Microsoft. However, the former Boeing executive and engineer will be staying put in Dearborn until the end of his term.

According to The Detroit News, Mulally stated he will keep his post until the end of 2014 or possibly longer and has “no plans other than to serve Ford” for the time being.

Ballmer had previously tapped Mulally to take the CEO job at Microsoft, along with other possible candidates.

Ford is a customer of Microsoft as the tech giant provides the basis for the Ford SYNC infotainment system.
