Toronto, Ontario – Honda has announced the introduction of its all-new, eighth-generation Civic, with three new powertrains for increased performance and fuel efficiency, new exterior and interior styling, new standard safety features, and continued durability, quality and reliability.

The latest Civic joins the 1.2 million sold in Canada since the model’s introduction in 1973.

The 2006 Civic will be available in sedan, coupe, Hybrid and Si configuration. The new Si will be the performance halo for enthusiasts, with advanced handling characteristics, while the Hybrid sedan has a more advanced aerodynamic body style to deliver high fuel economy and low emissions.

New powertrains will include a new i-VTEC engine with advanced valve control, and a fourth-generation Hybrid IMA (Integrated Motor Assist). New advanced safety systems will include Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body Structure for collision energy management, standard side and curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution, and active head restraints.

The Civic Coupe and Si will be produced and assembled at Honda’s plant in Alliston, Ontario, along with all two-door coupes built for the global market and most of the Civic Sedans intended for the Canadian market. Sedans will also be produced in East Liberty, Ohio, while all Hybrid models are built in Suzuka, Japan.
