Dearborn, Michigan – Ford has announced that the 2009 Mustang will be available with a factory-installed Glass Roof on both V6 and GT models next summer. The option will be priced between the coupe and convertible models.

“Mustang is an icon in our product line-up, and we are committed to keeping Mustang news fresh every year,” said Derrick Kuzak, Ford’s group vice president, Global Product Development. “As the automotive landscape becomes increasingly competitive, features such as a panoramic glass roof will help differentiate our products from the competition.”

The new Glass Roof is made of tinted privacy glass, reducing infrared rays and vehicle cool-down time by 50 per cent, and includes a manual roller blind. The glass also features a vinyl layer to improve acoustics and interior quietness.

Glass Roof Mustangs will be assembled at the Automotive Alliance International plant in Flat Rock, Michigan, with the glass installed at Ford’s adjacent vehicle personalization facility.

The Glass Roof Mustang will be joined in 2009 by two other special-edition lines, the Mustang Bullitt and Shelby GT500KR. The 2009 model year marks the Mustang’s 45th anniversary.
