Ottawa, Ontario – A video by Maxime Lefrançois of Quebec, PQ has won the top prize in CAA’s national Practise Safe Txt youth video contest. Lefrançois’ 90-second video, Prends pas le risque (Don’t take the chance/risk), was selected from an initial pool of 64 entries.

Honourable mentions also went to Connor Eberhard of Smithville, Ontario and Domenica Burroughs of Winnipeg. Over 20,000 Canadians voted online to choose the top ten, which were then voted on by a national judging panel that included educators, police and CAA representatives.

“The director took a very unique approach in terms of storyline,” Susan Harada, a professor at Carleton University, said of the winning entry. “None of us expected that twist in the plot, and found that it really drew the viewer in. The fact that the messaging focused on prevention made Prends pas le risque stand out among a group of high-caliber entries.”
