Hiroshima, Japan – Mazda Motor Corporation held a rollout ceremony for the all-new Mazda2 at its Ujina Plant No. 1, near Mazda’s headquarters in Hiroshima. Known in Japan as the Demio, the Mazda2 will also be sold in Europe, Australia, China and other markets, with sales commencing in the summer of 2007.

The all-new Mazda2 is roughly 100 kg lighter than its predecessor, placing it among the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class; it also has substantially improved safety performance. The European model was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2007, and then at the Shanghai Motor Show in April.

Production will also be added to the Ujina Plant No. 2 in June 2007, while models for the Chinese market will be built at the Changan Ford Mazda Nanjing plant by the end of 2007.

There are no plans to sell the Mazda2 in Canada.
