The Jaguar F-Type, the darling hellraiser of the esteemed British marque currently has several engine options and state-of-tunes to suit your needs. From a supercharged 340-hp 3L V6, all the way up to the flagship R Coupe’s supercharged 550-hp 5L V8, they have you covered.

If a measly 550 hp isn’t enough for you, Motor Trend’s senior features editor, Jonny Lieberman, says you’re about to get a 600+ hp option by way of the Jaguar F-Type SVR Coupe.

Undoubtedly, the SVR will be more than just some extra power tacked on. Currently, Jaguar’s most hardcore version of the F-Type is undoubtedly the special edition Project 7 (pictured here). The Project 7 builds upon the already awesome R model and adds a functional aero kit, made from the finest carbon fibre, of course, an active rear differential, carbon ceramic brakes, and of course an extra 25 ponies – up from the F-Type R’s 550 hp. Not to mention the exclusivity and heritage factor of the Project 7.

So it would be pretty safe to assume that the upcoming SVR will benefit from those same performance boosters and more. It will be interesting to see if Jaguar will offer an all-wheel-drive option to the SVR or if it will remain solely rear-wheel-drive.

I’m really glad I didn’t buy that brand new Jaguar F-Type R Coupe last week with my enormous pay cheque. With only a paltry 550 hp, I’d have been the laughing stock (insert sarcasm disclaimer here) of the office.

We’ll be sure to update this post as more details come up.
