When that generation Civic came out in late 2015, I loved it.  They had standard side and side-curtain airbags even for entry-level models and that to me was a big deal.

Great pictures.

I think you meant late 2005.  Side airbags in the front seats and curtain airbags all around is nice for sure. However, finally received notice for the Takata airbag inflator recall, taking it in tomorrow to have the passenger side replaced. I wonder how long it will be before I get notice for the driver side airbag?

Washed a waxed for the first time in probably 3 years, still shines up pretty good although the front is in pretty rough shape. Crap photos in the garage right after I finished.

Of course today I find a MASSIVE bird crap on it, oh well, it was clean for a couple of days...

This is so much nicer than the current Civic.  Clean lines.

Another year later and the SI is still running strong! Its approaching 180,000kms of generally trouble free motoring. This past year I replaced the drivers side axle, front pads (temporarily as I did this in the dead of winter) and performed regular fluid changes. That's it!

I have new front pads and rotors to go on in the spring and the blower motor is a little squeaky at start up when it's really cold (-20 or below). I also need to figure out what to do about the broken trunk lid torsion bars, I'd rather replace with some gas shocks or something... Currently I have a 2x4 to prop the trunk open lol!

*aside* damn photobucket for disabling image sharing! >:(

Not sure how relevant this is, but I’ll throw it out there anyway ...

The HVAC blower motor on my ‘99 also got squeaky and annoying, so I replaced it. The OE replacement was really pricey, so I got a Bosch unit that was cheaper.

I figured Bosch should make a quality unit, but it really sucked. It worked fine, but didn’t have all the extra plastic housing and sound deadening material of the original. It was basically just a motor and fan on a metal plate, so was noisy and annoying. I put up with it, but was really pissed every time I turned up the fan. Should definitely have spent the extra on the OE part.

Thanks for the info. My blower motor is only squeaky on start up, as soon as there is even a little bit of heat it goes away. Sometimes even just changing the fan speed will eliminate the squeak. I looked at rock auto and they are only charging ~$50 for a new aftermarket one. Haven't checked with the dealer but maybe I will if it gets worse.

No one can see them anymore... they are hosted on photobucket but they don't allow 3rd party hosting anymore. I haven't gotten around to finding a different image sharing website.

Hit this milestone today

Couldn't stop at exactly 200,000km as I was on an onramp to the perimeter and then directly into a construction zone, pulled off at the first safe spot to take the photo. Yes, I know the airbag light is on...

When I first purchased this car, I was part of an 8th gen civic club and we would get together regularly to go for a cruise or for wings, etc. At its peak there were at least a dozen or more regulars. Now, there are only two left (including myself) who still own a civic.

Huh, I missed this.  When I bought my '08 Civic in late '07, I also joined 8th Gen Civic.  In the summer of '08, I participated in a meet with some of them in Winnipeg.  We met at Assiniboine Park, then proceeded to Cruise through the city down Portage Ave and up Main St.  I'm willing to bet you were one of the participants there.  I might have a pic of that meet with all the cars lined up at home on the computer...I'll see if I can find it.

And, Congrats on hitting 200 000kms on your car.  It's rare to see one owner cars with that mileage these days.

So, here are a few photos.  I doubt you were there...I had the Blue SI Coupe in the middle, and it looks like it was the only Blue Coupe there that day.

Beloved by owners and almost cult like following.

Yep! Ran it to redline in a couple gears on the way home from work today, engine is still running like a top.
