Called insurance company to check insurance. $76/month.

How does that compare to your other cars?
Slightly more than my POS Forester. Slightly less than my LS IIRC
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Waiting on install quotes, which should be done next week.

Then will decide if numbers work.

Still trying to find someplace to get a charger from.

To keep it simple, ask them to quote you all the hardware (breaker, wire, etc) to install a NEMA 6-50 receptacle for welder into your garage ...
Yea...That's the plan. So I'll need a "plug in" model rather than hardwired.

So is the way to go a basic charger? Or something with all the bells and whistles like this?  https://flo.ca

Will your EVSE planned to be inside your garage or outdoor wall mounted?
Gone but not forgotten in chronological order: 2019 Volt, 2013 Volt, 2014 Spark EV, 2012 Volt and many others before...

Inside garage likely. Though if it's cheaper outside...

I'm reasonably sure inside though

If it was me, I would kindly contact the SCH guys http://suncountryhighway.com/en/Home/Contact to check with them if a EV40P 6-50P could be order, after all there is (2) EV40P listed on http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/vehicles/electric/electric-vehicle-charging-stations.shtml but none with NEMA 6-50P, only "with a NEMA 14-50P 240V plug"? Maybe it would be possible even if not listed onto their online store, who knows..?

There are a lot a names on the MTO list but that came with some restrictions: "Even if the charging station is on the EVCIP Eligible Charger List, if your charging station was not ordered/purchased/leased from a Canadian source and was imported into Canada, it not be eligible for any EVCIP incentive."
You would be able to find yours somewhere, somehow. Good luck.

Another option ChargePoint Home Charger (EVSE), see note below for activation*, 32A, 25' cord, Plug
http://www.autochargers.ca/products/home-chargers/chargepoint-home-25-32a-plug-station-with-25-cord.html
As per online manual, seem to be NEMA 6-50P but don't take my word, check with them to validate
FYI a red top banners shows now: Save 10% on ChargePoint for Earth Day until April 22

Extracted from online manual
*Requirements to activate the Home station:
"+ WiFi and Bluetooth
+ iOS or Android Phone
+ ChargePoint mobile app (free) + ChargePoint account (free)"

or Group Buy on RFD (Option 1:SCH, Option 2: Chargepoint ... ) as seen on http://forums.redflagdeals.com/group-buy-active-level-2-evse-electric-vehicle-charger-2089931/

Costco has some charger options too no?

My roommate ordered his focus EV a couple weeks ago and got the same timeline you did for delivery Ron.

The Ottawa dealers came nowhere close to Yonge Steele so he's ordering it there and driving it back. Same issue as Windsor, will require a couple stops, but still quite doable.

It is only me but in 2017 for $55 extra or so on comparable, I would prefer today, a "connected" EVSE with 3 years warranty, almost same cable length (18') hardwired (no plug), Enclosure rated 3R @ $854.10 (as per today) http://www.autochargers.ca/products/home-chargers/chargepoint-home-25-32a-hardwire-station-with-18-cord.html but would personally pick a 25' cable and 6-50P plug, indoor rated...
---

On the US ChargePoint site https://www.chargepoint.com/products/home/, under Home data sheet PDF page 3, shows 32A model with plug is NEMA 6-50P https://www.chargepoint.com/files/datasheets/ds-home.pdf

Why does it matter if it has 6-50 plug?

This is the standard for plug-in, non hard wired charging stations. I have one in my garage at home and one at the cottage. At first I was carrying the charging station back and forth but got tired of that and just bought a second one used for the cottage. Easy to switch charging stations if one needs repairs or you just want to upgrade at one point.

Why does it matter if it has 6-50 plug?

No it doesn't. EVSE suppliers use different plug connectors (6-50, 14-50, others) based on code. Your master electrician has to wire and protect them accordingly.
I understood you were searching for a plug-in EVSE unless I misread you?  :shuffle:

A hard wire version EVSE with a +/- longer J1772 charging cable connector to be installed your electrician is also an option. Only you can answer that. ;)

Clipper Creek isn't on the rebate list unfortunately.

Sun Country Highway is the Canadian distributor for the same charging cords made by Clipper Creek.
http://suncountryhighway.com/

This is the charger I would choose if I needed one (both my cars came with the cords I use daily):

I have spent 20 hours getting the run-around setting up a test drive for my parents for a Volt.
Wow! Was it long time ago or very recent one?

Recent, like in the past few weeks.  Crazy.   Buying a Volt where I live in Toronto is a 10 minute process, buying in South Western Ontario, that's something else entirely.

Alright! I've chosen my electrician. Great guy, enthusiastic. Came by today and decided having the charger outside will be easiest, most cost effective way. He also said "Please order charger with 6-50R" and encouraged me to order 40amp instead of 30 amp charger. This is the type of advice that was lacking from other electricians...that and them complaining about where I lived.

Detailed quote is expected in the next day or so. This will determine if I move forward with an EV or not.
