If you want AWD mid size sedan there's really only one choice, the Subaru Legacy.  If you don't care about the AWD part I'd be looking at the new Accord, Mazda 6, and VW Passat.  All are bigger than this 200 and offer better driving dynamics.

I think the 200, especially in the AWD S trim, is a looker, and you can get high end features such as HIDs and ventilated seats, along with AWD and a strong V6 for under $40,000. I can definitely see what people see in them, my hope is that they hold up long term. Based on some of the initial quality results that favorites of mine such as the Grand Cherokee are getting, I would be somewhat leery about purchasing such a teched out Chrysler.

Or TLX

Indeed.   Though to get the SH-AWD, you're starting with a base price of $40k for the TLX.   Moving up to mid to high 40s to get all these tech features.

So it is a bit of different class.

Meh.  Lease it for 4 years and enjoy it while it's under warranty.  I liken this car to cars such as Land Rovers and BMW's.  Great fun when they're working, too much of a PITA to deal with outside of warranty.  Therefore they're lease cars only.

Too bad Chrysler doesn't do leases.

Hasn't most of us forgotten about the Fusion, much like the Chevy Malibu, it rarely gets brought up in conversations about best vehicles in the class.

The TLX I class with the Lincolns, Caddy's, Volvos, of the world.  Meaning near luxury and this 200 definitely is not in that category.  If it was my money and I wanted AWD I'd head over to Subaru for their Legacy and call it a day.  Decent price tag, good amount of tech, updated interior, excellent resale value, top safety ratings, and good reliability ratings.

Leasing potentially unreliable cars is a great way to not be on the hook for it, but its still a huge pain having an unreliable car.

As you guys may know, my 14 Verano Turbo MT has been a huge lemon, stranding us out of town, multiple no starts and dealer trips, thousands in replacement parts. Granted none of that cost me any actual money, it has taken hours of my time, ruined 3 trips into the mountains, and I'm always worried about "whats next". Just this morning, it spewed a bunch of coolant and was steaming at idle. I'll probably be in another rental for another few days. I've spent 3 months in rentals in the 18 months I have had the car! It is leased, and I was originally going to buy out the car, (I leased because they were only giving 0% on leases at the time,) so it was just a differently shaped finance package at the time. Now, I am actually grateful that I can give this lemon back rather than have to try and sell it, and I got GM to extend the comprehensive warranty until lease end... but like I said, its not very trustworthy, and its our only car suitable for road trips, and now its acting up again.

TL: DR I havent paid out of pocket for my myriad issues, but so much lost time, and lost trust in the car.

Damn thats a good looking piece of kit, its kind of awesome the that 'Muricans, the 200 and the Fusion, have the best looking mid sizes in the segment. You park this beside a Camacord and its no contest, IMHO of course.
Lighten up Francis.....

I still prefer the looks of the 6 over either of those.

If it wasnt for the wheezy little 4 banger and the lack of AWD I would agree with you.

:iagree: I really like the exterior of the Mazda6 too, but it all goes to hell in the interior.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

I'm not sure what this car offers in top of the line trim, but I suppose if you're looking for AWD and a V6, there aren't many options at this price.  The interior looks terrible (IMO) and while I like the profile and rear views of this car, the front end reminds me of an old Ford Contour.  The two are not identical, of course, but it reminds me of that generation of cars.

Add in the suspension and transmission set up and it just doesn't seem to be an inspired vehicle.

Lots of problems and complaints with the ZF sourced 9 speed transmissions on Chryslers, Jeeps and some Acuras like the TLX.
