i had an old Chevy van back in the day (i think it was a 1980 model)...the "hood" was about a foot long and the engine was essentially where your cup holders are in a modern car (somewhat between the seats, but a bit more forward)...i can't imagine that was easy to work on.

My Dad had an 83 Ford Econoline Van... once you got the doghouse off, you had access to the whole engine pretty much. It's just that it was a pain to take that doghouse off... not like just popping open a hood  ;D

From what I remember my old 80's Ford pickup with the straight 6 was a dream, everything out in the open. The V8 we had on the farm on the other hand was not so great, and Ford had the bad habit of making everything you had to crawl over in the engine bay sharp and pointy

i had an 87 Mustang back in the day, with the 4 cylinder...remember, that vehicle came with I4, V6 and V8 engine options, so when equipped with the I4, there was plenty of room under the hood.  :)

You could get a straight six in the early Fox body Mustangs too.

I owned a 1980 Beauville with a 350 for 17 years; changing the plugs wasn't too bad, one or two were tight to get at.  Compared to today's cars, it was easy!

Not my shop, but a buddy's shop. Guy came in only for a recall. Notice the pliers pinching off the brake hose. These clowns are driving among us. >:(

If you look closely at the rotor, you can see it is just fins.

The rear brakes are just spares anyway.

That is an expensive locking plier to dangle off the hose. ;D

If it was a recall it must have been reasonably new - how to do people get stuff into such bad shape? :o

haha! recalls happen on all ages... I see some horrible vehicles come in.. many that shouldn't be put back out on the road after the recall is done... so some people are scared to bring them in to us to get anything done...

Caliper probably seized, wore through the rotor, so buddy just backed off the caliper and crimped the hose. Good to go  :rofl2:

The broken leaf springs are just as sketchy....

No way that thing should be on the road.

Definitely a smooth, no bump ride. Wonder why he traded it, then?
