I have to ask, why does the 1.6T in the Escape scare you ?
because, reasons :shuffle:

The grey one is a Titanium trim with 2.0 T, the black one is a Sport with 2.7T.
:o
So the 2.7T is the one with the smaller, asymmetrical maw?!?!?!?!  :censor: weird.

It's not on all Edges - just certain engines (not sure which one(s)):

...presuming the 2.0T.

Thanks for the effort, but honestly that description didn't help me with that picture.

2.0 T is at the front, 2.7 is back.

Is it wrong that I really want one of these?

i've always thought the Edge was decent, but now i have to do a double take between it and the Santa Fe...they look pretty similar from the front now.

Since it first appeared in 2010, MyFord Touch drove down Ford’s approval ratings in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study from fifth to 23rd.

 :fall:

However, still one more year to go until that MyFord Touch disaster hits the trash bin in this unit.   One can only imagine the sheer number of potential customers and repeat buyers Ford has lost to that multi split screen bundle of frustration.  However, installation of actual seat heater buttons, volume dial, etc. goes along way in fixing the mess.  Sync 3 won't be in most Fords until model years 2016.

I keep hoping the touchscreen era in cars will die.

Somehow I manage to have 3 cars all with Nav and zero touchscreens. The way I like it.

Take your eyes off the road, find the button/knob, do the adjustment while watching, then eyes back on the road, versus look at a screen, do the adjustment while watching and eyes back on the road. There's no real world difference.

Some people say they can adjust with knobs/buttons without taking their eyes off the road, but the reality is the vast majority don't. They want to see feedback either from an indicator on the knob, or a pilot light or a number readout. Radio volume is about the only adjustment where visual feedback isn't required, and pretty much everyone has redundant volume controls on the steering wheel now.

There is. It is a huge difference. Its mind blowing that you don't get this. Do you lack feeling in your hands or something?

Now how fast do you type on an iPad?

+1 There is a WORLD of difference. I was seriously frustrated when trying to use it on the highway in the Fusion. The constant road undulations made it very hard to hit the right spot on the screen. While with the button, I can use my tactile senses to lock on the exact spot.

I really don't get how you don't see it.

First off, how much are you guys fiddling with the interface? I rarely need to once set up. Set the temp, set the audio, sync the phone and I'm pretty much good for an 8 hour drive.
And second, the touch points on MFT and uConnect are large enough that hitting the right spot is simply not an issue for me. Neither is the response time or finding stuff in the menu system.

If lack of coordination is an issue, I don't think it's my issue. ;D

Well they do have 4 drivers and only 2 cars, makes it easier to manage all those buttons :)

I'm with MMRET. I greatly prefer the sea of buttons in both the TL and the MDX. In fact, it was one of the major reasons why I went with the TL because I liked it in the MDX so much.

Before the "old man yells at cloud" meme is broken out, I am wholeheartedly in this camp. I can remember what buttons do where and placement, some touch screen that I have to attempt to push while the car is bouncing around, Im out!!
Lighten up Francis.....

Just read the Wheels section from the Star.  So any swearing from Jim Kenzie over MyFord touch?  So when does the Lincoln MKX get redone? 2016?    The current gen MKX base model is better equipped than the Ford Edge Sport.  Only $1k-$2k difference.  Yes it doesn't have the 2.7L turbo, but the 3.7L  V6 is no slouch.  Probably good deals coming soon...

Editors - how would this fare in a head to head with the RDX? :)

High spec mainstream CUV vs high spec near luxury CUV. Oddly, when comparably equipped, the RDX is actually a few grand cheaper (RDX Tech vs Edge 3.5 AWD + 302A+Touring).

My money would be on the Edge I think.

EDIT: actually might be worth waiting for the 2016 RDX refresh as the current model is a few years old.
http://www.caranddriver.com/news/2016-acura-rdx-revealed-new-looks-more-power-news

Will be getting the LED headlights (look pretty good IMO) and Honda's latest electronic gizmo suite (ACC etc.) so should achieve tech-parity with the more modern Edge.
