My first impression is that the new XC90 is more appealing, visually.

I really dislike the aluminum styling that Audi (and others) seem to love these days. I'm assuming there will be a black optics package to take care of that though.

The interior design does look great, and the weight savings are significant. The styling is a bit too subdued IMO; considering the current model has been on the market since 2007, a less evolutionary styling update would have been appropriate IMO.

That's a completely spanky new interior from Audi, including the steering wheel. I wonder if this is a precursor to other vehicles (cars in particular).

the design is meh-meh...not sure if I like it.

The VW Touareg (updated for 2015) looks better in my opinion:

You can count on the B9 having all that. I'm sure the S4 will be spectacular.

This is nice, real nice. Significant weight savings as well.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Very impressive numbers.  I want one.

An A4 for less than 35,000?  You can't even get a loaded Passat for less than that!

Hummm, I wonder when the q5 or the allroad gets the new design language and chassis.

Q5 is next and allroad will come with the new B9 next year.

Looking at more pics of the new Q7 I notice that a few CUVs are getting decidedly more wagon shaped...this and the XC90 anyhow. I hope this is a trend and the end of jellybean shaped CUVs.

Fantastic looking SUV.  And with the exception of the tacked on Navi screen, that interior looks superb!  I'm definitely partial to Audi designs over the last few years!

Oh you tacked-on-nav-screen haters. I like the approach for three reasons, 1) makes for a much more attractive dash – by far, 2) it sits higher for easier viewing (don't have to look down as much), 3) It's retractable anyhow, which for me is most important...to get rid of the display altogether.

I totally understand your point #2.  But for me, it simply looks like an iPad tacked on your dash.  Just not a fan whatosever.

Actually, my current favourite is the new Audi TT where a configurable screen replaces the traditional gauge cluster and there is no screen in the centre stack at all. Just a beautifully designed dash.  :lick:

After seeing many pics around the web...I have changed my opinion. It looks too much like a tall wagon. The interior is still gorgeous...

The interior is a big improvement over the outgoing model, as you'd expect. The current gen. dashboard has not aged well, at all. While the new one is a slim and streamlined design, which I really appreciate, it's still dizzyingly busy to me. This applies to the interior with the red accent lines. I hope it will look less so in person. The dark interior in the photos behind the link looks much better, IMO.

As for the exterior design, I feel that Audi is losing the edge they've held across the range the last couple of years. First the new TT and now the Q7 are showing a design language that I can't come to terms with. Looks too Americanized to me.

Yes, I really like that design too. I just wonder if it's a bit too driver focused. What if my co-driver wants to change the song or put in a new destination in the navi? I guess it's not so much an issue in a TT given how they're most likely to be used, but that would be a small issue in a more utilitarian car.
