Had it in for a check today, sure enough the left muffler needs replacing beause the valve in the muffler that opens and closes is not operating properly, hence the rattle in the muffler.  Covered under warranty so its all good, they will have it in a week or so.

Wonder how much if it wasn't covered....

I'll ask when I go in to get it fixed... any guesses?

It's a little vague when the say left muffler.  So does that mean the whole left muffler needs to be replaced, what other components does that include? I estimate $1200

The work order says "replace left side muffler, including exhaust flap".   With respect to some fuel economy comments earlier I am getting 13 L/100 almost entirely city driving but I have the 6 speed not the 8.  I am ok with that, I love my car.

One other thing, they gave me the complimentary car wash with my visit, and left water spots all over my beautiful deep sea blue paint.  Next time I am telling them to please not wash my car!

A cool ( but somewhat creepy feature) is that they can tell your kms, maintenance requirements, car warning light issues etc.... from your key fob.   They put your key in a slot and all the info pops up from the car.....

My 2003 E46 had that as well...for some stuff but I am not sure exactly how much it stored.

I thought it was cool.

I was at about 11 litres / 100 km with my (2010) 335i. RWD. Mostly city.

A friend of mine with a 2011 335i x-drive gets 9.5 litres / 100 km. Mostly city. (Similar commute)

Both 6-speed autos.

Sounds like it can be quite driver dependent. :P

I went in to get my muffler fixed, showed up 830 and they told me they weren't busy so I would probably be the next one in.  After not hearing back, I called 130, no one answered so I left a message.  I was also getting my sport pedals put on at a cost of 125 in labour.

At 3 they called saying they had to order a drill bit to get the pedals put on... No big deal... And they ordered a wrong part for my muffler... The muffler part.  They told me this over seven hours After I dropped my car off and was next in line.  I was absolutely livid, told them how I felt about it all and all they could say was they understood how I felt.  My beautiful bmw sounds like a piece of crap and he says he understands how I feel.  I was looking forward all week to getting this fixed.  Then he started in about the pedals I told him to forget about it.

So now they have to order another muffler and I wait another seven days.  They never even called me when the first muffler came in, I had to call them and they say... No one called you to let you know it was in...  Anyway as usual there is only one dealership in our entire province so I am stuck with them, our relationship is off to a rocky start!!

Mistakes happen. An extra week with a noisy muffler is hardly worth getting "absolutely livid" over, IMO.

I would be kinda pissed.  When a person buys  a luxury car, the expect a luxury dealership experience.  They should do the pedals for free, or something... demo car while being serviced...

The pedals for free would have kept me happy but instead they tried to get me to agree to the pedals by saying they had to order in a drill bit, like I should be thrilled by that.  I had already paid for the pedals, I just needed them put on.  At least they didn't wash my car and leave water spots like last time.  I just expect better from them.

I'd be livid.  This is HIS time they are f-ing with.  Now he has to come back AGAIN because of THEIR f-up.  And waste his time AGAIN.

It's not like he sprung this service on them at the last minute.  This was booked in advance.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Hey, I'd be disappointed too. For sure, it's an inconvenience.

But what do you mean by being livid? Having a tantrum and berating the service writer?

Let's get some perspective here: It's a noisy muffler and some pedal covers. First world problems...

They get paid $125 an hour, how much is your time worth.  They wasted 2 hours of your time maybe more sounds like you should bill them.

My perspective is:  My spare time is worth TONS.  And they're screwing with it.  So yea...I'm livid.

this would have been enough for me to get rid of the car LOL....I know I know, I can't get over a f-up dealer that doesn't even try to make it up to me....I am spoiled.

Yes mistakes happen, but what is the dealer doing to remedy it?  Nothing that I can see... One makes a mistake, they should try to make up for it....
