So my ex and I traded cars so I have the Explorer now and she has the 5. She drives like 28,000 km a year and me 16,000 km a year plus there’s the trailer which I take care of more so it made sense for her to have something better on gas.

But it didn’t mean I wanted something better on gas and relatively fun to drive. So Dora the Explorer is joined by Diego the Fiesta. I call it a 4 wheeled motorcycle. Titanium, 5 speed manual, insanely good on gas, has almost all the features a feature snob like me would want: proximity key, an auto climate control that works really well (the Explorer’s auto climate control kind of sucks), and one more I found out by accident you’ll see in the final photo. [emoji16]

I’d love an ST one day but for $4900, I’m not complaining.

Always liked that generation of Fiesta.  Nothing wrong with that.

Nice.  The pink accent lighting is...interesting.  can it be turned off, or changed?

What motor in this one?  The 3-cylinder?

It can be changed to seven different colors iirc. I’ve had a few Fords with this feature.

Thanks, it’s a nice car. The Koreans get credited for bringing features down to this type of car but Ford did a lot too.

Yes there are 7 other colours: white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, aqua.

1.6L naturally aspirated “Ti-VCT” engine that produces 120 HP. It’s slow lol but it’s ok. The trip computer says 7.1 L/100km so far.

These are a lot of fun to toss around, especially with the 5-speed. Nice compliment to the Explorer for sure!

Love the Fiesta! Small cars like this are the best (with a manual transmission). 8)

Yeah I like these a lot, especially with the stick. Great little cars for traffic. Congratulations!

Perfect little commuter car! The stick is the only way to go with these especially considering the automatics and their terrible reliability record.

I have always liked the fiesta, and almost had my parents buy one instead of the focus, but the deals on the focus at the time were too good. Great car though, especially for the price, and I've found the focus at least to be perfectly reliable over the past 11 years. Only body issues and that's partially people hitting it, partially excessive salt use.

Great city runabout and better than you using your motorcycle in the winter.  ;) Fuel will stay high so this will pay for itself.

A little better on gas! I actually sold my motorcycle earlier this year taking advantage of hot market values and thinking I wanted something highway capable instead. But with baby on the way and I don’t miss riding a whole lot, the Fiesta is perfect. Insuring the second car only cost me an extra $457 for the year which is like insuring a motorcycle.

The paint needs work, it’s chipping at the corners on the fender and hatch like the paint is brittle so surprising for an 8 year old car but that’ll come in time.

I third both statements.  I recall reading the Detroit Free Press story that said Ford knew the automatics were failure prone, but sold them anyway.

Looking good and nice manual. The automatics were junk for the Fiesta and Focus right?

The black wheels, black tires, black interior, black paint is sure a contrast with the colourful confetti!
