So this weekend I stop by the community thrift store to drop off some clothing. It's a great place we call the "buy and sell", a non-profit outfit run 100% by volunteers whose sales go back to the community, for those in need. Furniture, clothing, electronics... You drop anything still good you don't want anymore, and sometimes leave with more stuff - that's how we get more money to the community  :)

My best find so far there was a late-model Nakamichi tape deck, a super-clean 800$ unit I got for ... 25$.

So after dropping my stuff, I wander around, and finish at the small toys section - I had a feeling I'd find something worthy, and I did: A Revell model kit! At 3$, I scooped it up. Unwrapped box, so it could be from a kid who donated his glue bomb to charity, or an unfinished kit, or a new one, maybe with missing pieces. The box was well-taped, so I just left with it.

I found the same kit on Amazon: 70$ !! More likely, a 22-35$ value in stores IF new... Let's open the box and see what we find...

SCORE! Brand-new kit, plastic "trees" still wrapped! Bonus: a new glue bottle was at the bottom of the box!

The '68 Firebird is special to me in a way. First, I'm a '68 too  ;D Second, as a kid I always built the "custom" version of these two-in-one kits. I had the MPC version of this. This kit is a "skill 2", and offers quite a bit of detail. Even has redline stickers for the tires!

Best 3$ spent on car models ever!

Nice!  Love a sweet bluebird find like that.  A little off-topic, but one of my friends picked this up for $10 at her local thrift shop.  Crazy.

Nice finds folks!   I almost bought one of those Tivoli radios years ago and they weren't cheap.  Tthey were designed by a pioneer speaker designer and are about as high end as you can get for a portable radio.

Nice scoop!

You might like this '68:

I've always loved this generation of Firebird's.  I'm pretty sure i picked that one up pretty cheap at the same time i got the blue MGB.

I'm a '67 model myself.. so i am a bit more partial to this 67 convertible:   ;D

I recently got 3 more F1 cars to add to my collection.  My son's teacher has a large collection of 1\18th scale F1, Indy, and NASCAR race cars.  They just moved to a smaller house, he selling some of them.  I bought these 3 from him:  Alain Prost's 86 McLaren, Michael Schumacher's 01 Ferrari, and Kimi Raikonnen's 03 McLaren.

The Prost car is made by Solido.  The body and front wing come off, there's amazing detail underneath.  The other 2 are Hot Wheels and look pretty good as well.

Thanks - both of those Firebird's are Lane/Exact Detail.  They went belly up about 10 years ago...
The black '67 is was one of their nicer models.  The finish on it is beautiful.

Also have a '68 Shelby GT500 King of the Road from them..complete with Carroll's cowboy hat!

My latest diecast model...

I just ordered this "new arrival" yesterday from Toronto Motorsports. It's en route via Canada Post. It's from Maisto's Exclusive Collection which is supposed to be higher end and more detailed that their regular cheapo line. I'll know better when it arrives, but nonetheless figured I needed to add this to my collection. Just don't tell my wife what I did...

While its corporate sibling, Matchbox, has had plenty of Volvo models throughout its history, Hot Wheels is releasing its first in 2020!

I don't really collect models, but on a lark, I bought this:

I'm not entirely sure why, but I really like it in it's Harley cheesiness.

My somewhat eclectic collection.

Former boss bought me the John Deere after he found out I play Farm Simulator. Friend of mine gave me the ZX-14 while I was in the hospital after the motorcycle accident. She said: "Maybe you won't kill yourself on this one."
Former Lady O bought me the 57 Corvette. I keep my old wedding ring in the trunk.

Nice photos and collections!

Never collected the models myself but I love looking at all the collections you guys have.

My brothers and I had a few we shared as toys.  Now the only one I have left is a vintage Corgi Batmobile from the 1960s. The car itself is in quite good condition but I've long since lost all the extras: Toy Batman, toy robin and the tiny rockets.

Had that Batmobile too! Came with a Glastron Batboat on a trailer (or is it Bat-Trailer?)

Was looking at the original model car thread and noticed this post from over 10 years ago!  I love Brent’s comment!
