But for the 95+% of buyers who never go off the road and never tow anything more demanding than a utility trailer it's the traditional SUV's that don't make sense.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

I get it, its true, for most of the soccer moms around where we live they do not a Yukon XL or Excursion to take one kid to school. I just like big SUVs, a Tahoe for me would be the smallest Id ever go....ok, maybe a JDM turbodiesel LandCruiser. Anyways, for me a large SUV would be used for heavy towing, light offroading and carrying people. For me, I love that little turbo Kia CUV, that thing rocks, would I ever consider one...no, for me, that would make no sense.
Lighten up Francis.....

I'm interested in the Pathfinder and I test drove it when the NissanNext tour came to Ottawa.

As expected, this is definitely a CUV type of vehicle, basically a poor man's version of the JX which isn't a bad thing. It drives fine for this type of vehicle, enough power, spacious and easy to drive for its size. it was quiet, smooth and basically there was nothing that offended me. I have no problems with the CVT in general....it seems better than other older CVT's of yore, and I have no problem with its power delivery or feel. I certainly would rather have a JX for its more upscape looks but I'd rather save the few $K and get this instead.

With the price in the high-mid-30's for the 4WD model, it seems like a top 5 contender for me when I need to replace my WRX with a full-sized familar hauler. It's a larger vehicle that I actually need but the extra space might be handy for longer trips, hauling our bikes, carrying around the grandparents etc.

When is Honda and Nissan going to come up with a changer for the Venza? the Outback is close but does not have the same ergonomics IMO

Hasn't the Murano always been wildly popular?

Forgive me everyone but...

The more I think of this vehicle, the more I somehow like it.  :o That easy enter 2nd row seat makes this CUV pretty attractive. The $30k starting price and good fuel economy doesn't hurt it much either...

This thing looks better in person (home show). Aggressive pricing & impressive fuel economy make this an attractive Nissan for me in a long time.

The current Murano is more a competitor to the Pilot and highlander I believe. Not sure what is going to happen now with the new softened Pathfinder in the mix. Perhaps this is an opportunity for Nissan to redesign the Murano to compete with the Venza.

I always thought Murano was a more upscale vehicle than Venzas.  While I liked the Murano I test drove before, I'm more interested in the Pathfinder now with its 3rd row seating and lower price tag.  When are they releasing this anyway? They say late fall, but it's snowing already!

I spent some time looking at one in the showroom today while the Rogue was in getting serviced and winters installed. It was a SV model (cloth interior) but I was quite impressed with the finish and equipment level. They actually look pretty good in the flesh and smaller than the numbers indicate.

At something like 37K (freight in) for the SV AWD I think they'll be selling a lot more of these than the previous generation. I'll certainly give one a look when the time comes in '14. At 44K the platinum trim has pretty much all the bells and whistles I'd want. (and real leather upholstery  too.....

I know the standard leather in the Nissan Murano SL I drove was every bit as nice as the "Dakota Leather" option in my wife's 328i

Getting back to the Pathfinder. After watching some video reviews and looking at the websites I have to wonder why you would spend 8-10K more for the Infiniti JX over the loaded Platinum trim PF. Several reviews said the PF had less body roll/better handling than the Infiniti and a stronger CVT. I'm not sure what is on the JX that just isn't available on the Nissan version but it doesn't seem to be much.

I wonder if Nissan worries less about canabilizing JX sales because their Infiniti dealer network is so sparse?
