Cube.  A seriously absurd and gorey horror flick.
Old Boy.  An odd and disturbing Korean film.

NOW WE'RE TALKING!!!!  "Old Boy" is the type of odd, weird and disturbing movies we enjoy.  Old Boy is part of a trilogy of "vengeance" films from  Chan Wook Park, the other 2 being (Sympathy for) Mr. Vengeance, and (Sympathy for) Lady Vengeance.  All 3 are great films!

I loved "Old Boy."   Loved "Cube" as well.  "Cube" was the number 1 film in Italy for a while back when it was released.
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

My fav weird movie has got to be:
"Dark City" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929/
It has kind of a Matrix feel to it it came out a year before the Matrix did and I heard that the set for the opening scene in the matrix was taken from the Dark City set.

Others that I liked are:
Gattaca
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119177/

The Thing (great Horror movie)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084787/

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338013/

Grandma's Boy (Comedy)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0456554/

Donnie Darko
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0246578/

In a world where the dead are returning to life, the word "trouble" loses much of its meaning.

Oh yeah, I loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as well. Not overly wierd, IMO - just a great movie.

In a similar vein (might even have been from the same writer/director, IIRC) was Being John Malkovich. Another one I really enjoyed at the time.

I purchased this one in China the last time I was there (Oct or Nov) but have yet to watch it.
Anyone else?

UHF.

"Wheel... of... fish".... ---> "There's nothing in the box! You..so...stuuu-pid"  :rofl2:

What a dense Weird Al movie that was.

The Army of Darkness / Evil Dead ones were good.

I liked Gattaca a lot, but wouldn't call it weird.

   I've pre-ordered this on Blu-ray (Feb 19th).

Danny Deckchair.

Its an Ozzy flick....probably not a weird as some of the others listed though.

Eating Raoull or whatever it's called has often been a 'Late Great' movie on CityTV. Any movie where people get hit with a frying pan has to be called obscure.

Most of the 'Criterion' range of movies are weird (and expensive to buy). That said, the original Russian language version of 'Solaris' is very good.

I just "got" it. Bought it on Blu-ray disc yesterday.  ;D

Also bought a bunch of other Kubrick films - A Clockwork Orange and The Shining. Eyes Wide Shut was backordered, but I'm supposed to get it in the mail in a few weeks.

I'm also expecting Full Metal Jacket to show up in the mail one of these days - I chose it as a freebie with the Blu-ray player.

Dr. Strangelove is another classic of Kubrick's. I should probably try to pick that up on DVD one of these days, too.

I realize 2001 is deep with meaning about human nature and evolution but this movie is still painfully slow and boring. I mean the 20 minute monkey seen at the beginning is extremely excruciating as is the docking seen on the moon.

Sleep Away Camp
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086320/

Sleep Away Camp was a half decent Horror movie but I could have done without the "Crying Game" Ending!!

Guess we can toss in Fight Club as a bit weird.

Brad Pitt always seems to be able to pull off playing a weirdo/scum-bag role quite well...
