Plastic fantastic unfortunately. Real skid plates or no go for off road. Shame with the CVT. Off road really should have a 2 speed transfer case, too easy to cause damage otherwise.

I believe there is the aftermarket for the plates.

^ Seems like a no-brainer for a hundred bucks.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Subaru needs to be ok with this. Sometimes adding plates causes more heat. Heat + CVT = bad.

When the auto stop is active you get live stats in the trip computer - mine has a lifetime use of 5 hours and 30 minutes in 13 months. I turn it off in gridlock but leave it on for traffic lights - and we have lots of those!

There is one similar for the Honda Civic as well. Was thinking of getting one.

Good point.  The aftermarket seems to be quite expansive in this area - if one peruses the forums anyway.  There are separate plates for the diff as well.  I have heard that Subaru will be offering this as an add on but who knows.

Note that this Wilderness Edition has a CVT oil cooler.

I was just guessing from my Ridgeline experience. One of the reasons Honda gave for not offering a skid plate.

I was looking at a used Ridgeline as a possibility but apparently they don’t depreciate 😂. Used market is bizzare
