"DENALI BRAND OUTEARNS LAND ROVER
Wow, who knew? A report from JP Morgan says that GMC’s Denali sub-brand generates $6.4 billion in revenue. That’s more than Land Rover and close to Audi. And we’re just talking about a trim line, not the entire GMC lineup. So now Buick wants a piece of that action. It’s launching its own sub-brand, called Avenir, just like that show car that generated so much attention. Buick sees an opportunity to appeal to customers who will to pay more for a higher trim level. But it’s not building that show car. Instead, Avenir branded vehicles will get bolder mesh grilles, bigger wheels and special Avenir badging. Buick says three global models will get the Avenir treatment within next year." Autoline

If you thought Buick's appreciated before, these things will be exponential in appreciation.

"DENALI BRAND OUTEARNS LAND ROVER
Wow, who knew? "

Only an utter dope from the US of a Buick shill did, and seems to think Canadians care. He proclaimed this non-news all over US car websites months ago.

Norm has singlehandedly put off enthusiasts for over a decade from ever buying a Buick with his nonsense, starting at TTAC as NormSV650 pushing SAABs. They croaked as a company despite their 54 mpg US, 160 mph performance and mere $14K price, so Norm graduated to Buicks, and some have actually spontaneously completed a moonshot with the Trifecta tune, leaping unprovoked off their Earthly surroundings with uninhibited orgasmic joy.

Sometimes confused and unintelligible as one might be after a bender but always on point as a Buick brand ambassador, Norm is a universal troll worldwide on English language car forums. He now also gets a cheque from PSA who turn out the orphaned Buick Regal for GM, having bought Opel two years ago - hello, lack of spare parts!

Goodness knows what the man does with his time, his nonsense is everywhere, hijacking threads. A total blight on the landscape and incorrigible with it. I think we can blame SAAB for starting him on his off the rocker path because - troll definition is - a dwarf or giant in Scandinavian folklore inhabiting caves or hills of the type also found in the water pipes of Flint MI where Buick City was closed down in 1999.

As for the "Who knew news". Whoopy do. No matter how many they sell, every one will still be a "could have been much better but it's a GM so what do you expect?" dumb Buick, lacking merit of any substance because the same mediocre chassis and engines are in Chevs and Cadillacs as well.

Norm claims to be an HPDE instructor. Now if you can square the unlikely circle on owning and shilling Buicks and being an advanced driving instructor without laughing your head off, you're a better man than me. Perhaps it's a specific group who get his advice, like "Grannies for the Land Speed Record in an Encore".

If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Mangled use of the quote function

This rant sounds depressingly familiar. Are you guys the two nutters who ruined the car comments on the Globe and Mail website with your incessant bickering?

Please don’t start it here.

Where is the gear shifter in this thing? I haven't noticed any shifter or knob on the center console.  The knob I see, based on the symbols seems to be for other functions - driving modes.

GM can make a decently handsome CUV, but their pickup truck could literally turn you to stone with its epic fugliness. Go figure.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

A row of buttons below the climate controls. Why......I don't know.

"Could you turn off the rear defroster ? I think it's good now."
"You mean this button with R ? Sure."

A base 4-cylinder with 193hp.  Eff-Me, that thing must be a dog with that engine.  No Thank You.

Also, for the money, I'm not buying this thing when vehicles like the VW Atlas and the Kia Telluride are available.

Coming from someone who just spent more time writing a ridiculous rant than NormT has spent on his last twenty posts, that's pretty rich. Also, I don't spend much time here, but every single post I remember reading from this person oozes negativity and old-man grumpiness. I'm no fan of NormT's, but I'm trying to figure out which is worse - NormT's minor and almost hilarious trolling or the consistency of Mr. Grumpy Pants. And speaking of highjacking threads and blighting the landscape ...  the hypocrisy runs pretty thick in that there rant.

^^^I've always thought Chignetohead's posts were well written and entertaining to read.  Yes, they have a streak of curmudgeonliness to them, but that just adds to the entertainment.

Put me down in this category as well....anyone who is this much of a fanboy for a third rate brand like Buick is entertaining/sad rather than annoying.
Lighten up Francis.....

Delusional?  Definitely.  Amusing?  Yes - but only if you don't get tired of hearing the same joke over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.  For me, the funniest standup routine ever isn't funny at all the hundredth time you've heard it.

Barf black wheels anyone? Are they sourcing Junk Yard Part dot com?
We couldn't think of anything, so we just gave it to the most junior design staff (actually the secretaries understudy) and let them have at it.  They crapped out the final, and this is what you're getting.

Makes it look low rent.  At least give it something that doesn't look like a gov't car.   Just looks cheap.

I took one of these out for a test drive a couple years ago (when this new version was introduced).  Wasn't a long test drive, but I liked it.  Having only a Ford & GM dealer within 100 km, I would seriously consider it over an Edge.  But, I'm never serious. Except about the black wheels.  They are seriously ugly.

Preferred look:

You're getting old dad...I know, I know...
