PMC is usually pretty good. I think it depends on the tire you need. For example; I priced out tires for the G37S. This time PMC was cheaper than Costco.

If you can get a place to install it for less than $28 a tire and offer no hassle road hazard warranty, sure. Then Costco was also providing $70 cash card back so if you shop at Costco anyway, you have to get the tires installed less than $11 a tire to break even with Costco's deal.

This also does not fully explain why someone would choose Costco over a cheaper competitor either as I believe this thread was created because of the service you get from Costco (namely how they honor the warranties on the tires) more so than just the savings you might get from choosing them.

Total cost including installation and taxes?

Of course I'll shop around and not blindly buy from Costco, but a lot of times they end up being the cheapest out the door.

I've had a few, one Bridgestone and two Michelins.  The Bridgestone warranty was painless, the Michelin was like being waterboarded.  I buy from Costco because...

1. Pricing is excellent on most of their selection.
2. No hassle rebates and gift cards.  I bought some General tires that had a $35 gift card and it took months for it to come.  The Costco card comes quickly.
3. They stand behind their products.  Flat repairs are done quickly and no need to have your paperwork, etc.
4. They might be a "big box US-based retailer" but they have brought a ton of decent paying jobs into our community and they treat their employees well.

Costco employees are unionized??  Everytime i go there workers seams to enjoy their job.  My last set i bought at CT because they had a really good deal. When i looked at winters most place i phone coupd not match them.

The TPMS warning light lit up on the dash of the Lexus yesterday just after we left the driveway on our way into the city.  i checked the level via the onboard diags and it said my rear drivers side was down to 25 psi, so i turned around and topped it off to 34 psi like the rest.  We then headed back in town and visited my mother at the hospital.  After we left there i checked the pressure again and it was back down to 30 psi, so up to Costco to see if they could have a look.  We got there at 3:40PM and we were on our way home with a repaired tire and the usual supply of Costco sundries by 4:30PM.  Now that's quite a combination of great service and convenience imo!   

This is my first warranty claim for tires in an awfully long time.  They found a screw in it.

Nice to hear a positive story when something like that works out for everyone; happy customer, and Costco is happy too because you spent money on other stuff while you were in there....That's how it's suppose to work.

Tires all mounted and put away until the snow flies. Costco did a great job by minimizing weight (offsetting the heavy point of the wheels and tires). I think they had time on their hands (I figured this was the reason behind the promotion). Tires are great too. Nice and fresh being built second week in May 2018 in Japan.

I received the $70 cash card yesterday as well. All good.

I love that Costco is upfront about when the promotions are coming.  The cash card comes quickly too - none of this 8-12 weeks crap.  We actually had the card in our mailbox before the Michelins we bought for the Corolla were installed this spring.

Yea. But man are the tires that came with the Sequoia terrible in the snow. The Weather Network 14 day trend says no precipitation until the end of the month, so I may hold out. Their price on the Bridgestone DM-V2 is so insanely good though that if the weather turns for the worse, I'll order them early.

Durn It.  Costco is all sold out of winter tires in the sizes required for my truck.  Whether I go 255 section, or 265, 17" or 18" rim size, they are completely out.  They had some literally a week ago...

I'm ready to order, so I hope they get some stock again, soon.  At least this gives me incentive to wait until December when they have their Bridgestone discount. 

I would hate to have to go to Canadian Tire, where the tires are about $30 more per corner.

Can you go to Kal tire ?

Kal Tire will only price match Costco if the local store (within 100kms) has tires in stock.  Plus, they don't seem to carry Blizzaks (at least in the right size)

Well, PMC tire has them, and they are about $10 more expensive than Costco, per tire.  That's for 255 section.  I forget if Costco was 255 or 275.  275 section at PMC is an additional $45 per corner, so I'm alright with 255 section at that price difference.

So, total price at PMC tire, for 4x Blizzak DM-V2's 255/70R18, including steel wheels, and their free mounting/balancing and shipping, is $1332.62 taxes in.  Plus you get a $50 MIR.

The wheels and tires are each $10 more than Costco, for a total of $80 more.  But Costco charges $15 install per corner, so that means that PMC is only $20 more.  For tires that I wouldn't have to wait to be in stock anymore. 

The only caveat is that I would have to switch them over myself (it's already COLD out), but I think I'm okay with that.
