Press and Marketing Costs
« on: April 28, 2015, 04:46:18 pm »
Does anybody know the range of costs for writing and issuing a press release, advising on a media campaign and speech notes, and building/selling a media and contact list for a group of dealerships?

What's fair market value for something like that?

Yeah, that's about what I thought. ;)

We're looking at the cost of a professional writer with major media experience (journalism and marketing) in a major market, writing around 300 words, and spending two to three days advising, editing, rewriting, etc.

On top of that, there is developing and selling a media contact list of roughly 200 names.

Can we narrow it down?   8)

Half a shekel for an old ex-leper?

Do you have enough need to warrant a full-time person or could a good PR firm do the trick?  I've seen enough automotive releases (and events) come out of these guys to know they do a pretty good job: http://www.cohnwolfe.ca

It all depends on the cost, this is a one-off because its a conglomerate and not a specific business.  Its best if its local, but a PR firm or a a freelancer or journalist... whoever.  But still looking for a not-quite-so-ballpark cost.

It depends on the level of the associate working on your projects, as well as the size of the firm. In my (recent) past life I worked PR for Hyundai here in Canada. Based on my experiences, you're looking at anywhere from $75-$150/hour if you're working with a national firm. Smaller outfits may charge less. YMMV.
