The Chrysler Pacifica was one of the first car-based mid-sized crossovers, but that doesn't mean it's one of the best.

I rented one of these for a Winnipeg/North Battleford round trip shortly after they came out and thought it was great. When I got home I told few people how good this weird vehicle was and they all thought i was nuts. Aesthetically it has aged well.

We considered one of these as a family vehicle at one point but poor reliability, gas mileage and a generally bulbous appearance prompted us to look elsewhere. The interior looked sumptuous and spacious though - I'm sure it's comfortable and can be had for quite cheap on the used market now with 2006-2007's with low miles for under $10K.

I tried to get my wife to consider one of these, but she thought it looked too much like a "Mommy mobile"). Given it's track record, maybe it was for the best...

A used review for a vehicle 4 years old? Maybe this should have been done when the 1st gen Journey came out.  By now, no one is interested in this vehicle.  They are just glad they never bought out, or kicking themselves for buying it.

??

You wouldn't buy a 4 year old vehicle?  I think it's a great time.  The price is 1/2 to 1/4 what it was new and most still feel new enough.

The only person I know with a Pacifica has 220K km and has had no major problems.  They really like it.  It's too big outside and too small inside for me but that's true of the new crossovers as well.

I may consider a 4 year vehicle, but this article covers 2004-2008, so the earliest model is 8 years old.  The data would not have changed if this review was done in 2009 of 2010 is my point.

Not sure why we see several reviews of the same vehicle, but fewer reviews or none of other vehicles.

Not sure how much more or less reliable it was, but I thought the Ford Freestyle/Taurus X was the much more attractive package overall.
