Seeking advice about new, slightly different tires on Ford E150
« on: October 29, 2014, 05:45:41 pm »
I just got an amazing deal on some tires at an auction, and am hoping they'll work on my van. Looking for advice and opinions from people who surely know more about tires than me.
The van is a 1999 Ford E150. It currently has Goodyear Fortera P235/75R15 tires.
The new tires that I bought (with new rims) are Goodrich Rugged Trail P235/70R16. Will these be okay on this van? Will the slightly larger size affect my speedometer & odometer?
Thanks!

Uhhhh no, not at all. You have 15 inch rims and you bought 16 inch tires....thats a no go.
Lighten up Francis.....

The new tires have their own rims.

It should work just fine - the size difference is minimal. Only problem might be if the new rims don't have the same bolt pattern or hub bore, but I assume you checked that out beforehand.

Yes, it will affect your speedometer and odometer, but pretty marginally. The new tires are 0.3% larger overall than your existing ones, so your measurements will be off by that amount. Certainly not anything to worry about - generally speaking up to a 3% difference is deemed acceptable.
