First rumoured to be the next Yaris, Toyota will utilize the Mazda 2 as the basis for a car to replace the xD, also due sometime in 2015. AN says it will have four-doors and a trunk versus the Mazda 2′s hatchback bodystyle. The new Scion model is also rumoured to be powered by Mazda’s 1.5-litre Skyactiv mill.
What's the deal with this 1.5L being used in bigger, heavier cars, when their current use is already considered on the "light" side of powerful?!  This is just going to look like a Fiesta sedan with its narrow and awkward proportions - small cars always look better as hatchbacks.  I don't see the money in this niche market, but the Mirage, Versa Note, and Micra keep coming.

...while a new Corolla-based crossover may come to the brand for the first time, slotting in below the Toyota RAV4.
Honda makes the HR-V, Toyota must respond with the Rav2.  t.i.t.s.

The Scion sold way better when the 1.5L engine powered the xA and xB.

Where's the Toyota Aygo in all the rumour talk?  Funky, economical, inexpensive, just like what Scions used to be.

You can't compare older sales - competition comes out and makes models like the xA and xB less relevant.

This makes way too much sense for Toyota.

I thought that was the BMW i3 at first glance.
