Question for BC members
« on: February 08, 2018, 01:41:40 pm »
I am getting a rental in Vancouver next week. Rather than paying Avis $15.95 a day for a gps I am bringing an old Garmin I have. Are windshield mounts an issue in BC? I know the cops in some provinces (Quebec I think for one) can be sticky about anything on the windshield in "line of sight"
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Why not use your cellphone and leave it in a cupholder?

From what I can find online doing that is actually illegal ( looking down and not attached to car)

Windshield mounted GPS is OK in BC, just not try to fiddle with it during driving.

What car do you have? It might have satnav installed in it, or Android-auto, or Apple's version? Mustang I had in Vegas last May had Android Auto, so I used my phone for Google Maps.

Supposed to be a 328iXdrive but since that model hasn’t been sold since 2016 hard to say...  They always say “or similar” so ......???

It may well have Nav although the Avis website was still trying to sell me Nav at $15.95 so who knows. I figure I’ll throw my old Garmin in my carryon just in case

It's not - you just can't touch it while operating the vehicle.

Windshield mounts are ok, you just can't actually touch it.

Which is why I like "Hey Siri/OK Google" nowadays.
