Look at it this way - it's not an EV. Toyota is killing its V8 and non-hybrid V6 engines.

Oh, a freaking 4 or 6 cyl diesel I would be all over it. A stupid petrol powered one with all the turbos and crap, no thank you. Its a lot easier to delete all the enviro crap off a diesel to make it run for hundreds of thousands of kms vs a petrol unit.

Diesels are done, and no way you can "un-enviro" a modern engine anymore. It's not like we're still in age of air pumps anymore anyhow...

It's the same PT found in the Mexican  Tacoma Limited.  Namely full time drive which is good, but with a center locking differential if needed.

It's gonna be great other than the $80K price tag and in the LC case very limited availability in lower trims.

Power wasn't my concern, it was does it suck?      Numbers are one thing but how it drives is quite another. Another concern is will it last 300k kms with just oil changes. If no to the former and yes to the latter then it gets a check mark.

It doesn't have a locking front differential, so no, it's a softroader. Turbos normally last around 150,000 miles on average, about 240,000. It's a Toyota; this thing will run until the wheels fall off and the engine goes bang after a million clicks, even with abuse and no oil changes. I'm sure it's a Toyota.

Thats not nearly the same thing, brake biased diffs<an actual locking diff. Is it better than nothing, yeah, but its not close to an actual locker.
