Volt #4, aka "ma belle brune" has reached 180k kms.

Nothing special to report except power steering Stick-Slip problem, reprogrammed as per service bulletin *, otherwise regular maintenance. Some wear items are coming soon: brake have been serviced this April but they will need to be done on 4 corners this September. Same about summer shoes are on their last stretch except this will wait until next spring :shuffle:

Lifetime average has bottomed to 2.13L/100km

^^^ Impressive! Have you done the coolants yet?

Yes, already done July 2020 before I took delivery. At that time Volt #4 was 136k kms, cost me $12,894 + Txs), that maintenance was already due because 5 yrs or 240,000 kms, whichever comes first because original warranty started 2014/02/28

@ 182,000 kms noted to be my first oops moment with Volt #4. I noticed at work, a small coolant spot near driver side of radiator, in fact, there is 3 of them but anyway. Went back to home without after thought, since no error message, should be a slow leak... Except next morning, the car didn't recharge at night and now has a " Service High-Voltage Charging System" error message + CEL. Pop up the hood the drive battery coolant reservoir (there is 3 too) was almost empty. I had some Dexcool laying into my basement so, i filled it up before calling my preferred Chevrolet dealer to inquire about availability, they answered me bring it in, we have a Volt loaner awaiting for you, we'll try to look at your Volt next week in between or no show appointment. Sound good enough for me, I dropped my 2014 Volt and drove back into 2017 Volt with almost 150k kms, it was fully recharged and this Sunday morning, I gave it a wash.

Now wait & see for the bill estimation.

My bad, the empty one was the "Cooling System (HighVoltage Battery)" on passenger side, the other on driver side which was ok is the "Cooling System (Power Electronics and Charger Modules)".

Hopefully some brittle plastic coupling or a hose is to blame.

Volt #4 has a new (high voltage battery coolant) radiator, the one in the front of the 2 others. My wallet is lighter by 1044$, 15% tax in. I picked it up Monday evening. The next expense but a planned one, is to redo 4 corner brake discs & pads later this fall, plus all new summer tires next spring. It'll a costly year for sure, hope the following one to be story less..

Hmm... Kind of early for a rad to leak on a 9-10 y.o. car. For that kind of dough I would ask to see the leak and the old part back. But that is just a couch wisdom. I once forked out close to that amount for a parking brake job at the H dealer, later realizing it would likely cost me half at my indie, but the car was towed in so there was that.
Glad to hear it's done and the Voltage is back on  :D

Knowing the dealer, Bourgeois Chevrolet, I would trust them 100%. The best I have ever seen by a wide margin.

Some rads just do that. My old Ford pickup got about 10 years before both rad and heater core crumbled into mush, which surprised me as I was used to both lasting basically forever

Exception taken of the unplanned high voltage battery coolant radiator replacement last June, otherwise only maintenance item such as last year 4 shock absorber, new brake disk & pads on all corner this September, plus one front wheel bearing and 2 link kit (front stabilizer sway bar) at the same occasion for such kind of mileage/kilometre, I'm ok with that, nothing else to report. We are 3 weeks away to put back winter rim/tires set in place..  :(

She drives like a new, she will deserve 4 new summer tires next spring if everything goes well  :P

October 14th, 2023: 190,000 km
Lifetime average now down to 1.98L/100km

ps, yeah I know the wheel is dirty on the below picture..

My 10 y.o. 2014 Volt aka "ma belle brune" reached today the 200,000 kms mark.

Lifetime average initially was 2.36L/100km, now down to 1.89L/100km.
My personnal avg since bought used August 2020 is 1.75L/100km (truncated number shows on display) as per trip B data: 1113.7L/63585.2km

In short, I have no (monetary) rational not keep this Volt raking up in kms!

Seems they really last, many with well over 200,000km. Still have a nice look and solid feel too.

I’m averaging 3.2L/100 with mine. Very happy about that. However, last week I got the “service high voltage charging system” warning. I replaced my battery cooling tank but the warning remains. Seems that code will hard set and only the dealership can remove it.

Yes, i believe only the dealership can and you can't recharge as seen into my post above...

Edit 2024/04/21: Wiki shows only (11) ELR sold in Canada in 2016 calendar year! How many were MY2016 (not MY2014) Note no MY2015 ever.
