I think it looks better than the C-Max.

Me too.  I like it.
Me three.

I agree too.  I wanted to like the C Max when it came out but it's an awkward looking thing.   I really like the looks of the Bolt and if it lives up to its press I could see myself buying one.

The front end of the C-Max was a bit of a mess. They are updating it this year at least.

Battery details will be announced at the Detroit show.

I'm wondering if they'll finally follow us and go the lithium-ion polymer route. We were ahead of the curve with them, but everyone is bound to catch up. Same supplier. Li-PBs are smaller, lighter, more energy-dense, easier-to-package, more thermally stable, run cooler overall, more resistant to damage... Basically better in every conceivable way  :rofl2:
Cost per KwH better as well?

That I don't know, and even if I did, I probably couldn't say!

Patrick, are you referring to the IONIQ when you talk about "we" and lithium polymer batts?   have you seen the full EV ioniq?

I'm referring to our Sonata Hybrid, which has had this battery tech since 2011. It was the first car in the industry to feature this battery chemistry, supplied by LG Chem. To my knowledge only Porsche has joined us so far.

As for the IONIQ EV... No comment  ;)

Battery was developed in partnership with LG Chem.  A similar yet higher density version of the Volt/Spark EV battery cells.  Rumour has it this will use refrigerant instead of coolant in the battery as it's more efficient/cost effective and compact.

Given that the charge time is 9 hours on 240V @ 32A that would put the battery in the high 60's KWh capacity.  Engineers in interviews have been very bullish on range numbers.  GM is saying "at least 200 miles EPA".  Based on battery size I'm going to guess closer to 230 miles EV range EPA (~370kms).

Based on GM's annual investors meeting and battery cell costs at $145/KWh this would put the battery pack cost in the ~$12K US.  This vehicle is a lot bigger than people think.  Interior passenger volume is larger than a Tesla Model S.  This is a larger version of a Mazda 5 or KIA Rondo.

With 0-60mph times of under 7 seconds it moves pretty good.   I'm seriously interested.  Would compliment my Volt in the driveway very nicely.   I'm guessing it will start in the low to mid $40K's in Canada.

While I like what GM is doing with Volt + Bolt  ...

I have a hard time accepting their business practices WRT to Tesla:

Wonder what the going rate is for an American politician?  I'm sure they're not cheap and GM really has better things to spend its money on.
