For risk of Wing increasing the selling price...  :rofl2:
the CB300F will likely serve you well...while i know you are thinking of doing a VERY long ride on it (to get it home), it's bread and butter is likely as a commuter bike...perfect vehicle for zipping around town on.

i still really like the new Duke 390 though...this new review just came out (yes, still in India):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lCfWEfUgko&t=723s

rrocket is likely right...it's going to be tough to beat this bike in the entry size class.

I can't get over how amazing that TFT display is.

Just read the review of the new and improved 1290 R Duke.  Geez...

I like the way KTM is headed.  They had a mandate form the Pres. to make amazing bikes that push the envelope.  Funny story..when they made the first 1290, the inside code name was "The Beast" because it was so gnarly.  The engineers tested the bike and said "We can't sell a bike like this.  It's nuts".  So the Pres. asked to test the bike to see where they were at.  He took it around the track and the first thing he said was "We HAVE to build this thing!!".   ;D
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I once rode for 22hrs almost non-stop from Whitehorse down the Stewart-Cassiar highway including being pelted by hail, snow, and trying to negotiate muddy, rutted roads.  On a CBX.  Fun times!

What's your route?   Through the USA?
Several choices.

Through Canada. I don't have a passport at the moment and frankly have little desire to unnecessarily travel through the USA. Besides, I've never done the trip across Canada. What better thing to do on Canada's 150th birthday?

You should research how to strap some luggage on this bike.  I'm thinking you may want to carry a 5L jug if fuel as well.  Although the bike will go 350km on a tank - - I remember driving to Winnipeg and there was one long stretch that was 500km with nothing between.

But that was 15ish years ago.   Also didn't have google then on the road to find something.

There's 236km between Thunder Bay and Ignace which appears to be the longest stretch between services, 243km from Ignace to Kenora with Dryden in between, and 229km from Kenora to Winnipeg with Falcon Lake in between, I'm good! I'd have a problem if I spontaneously wanted to go to Flin Flon and head back west to Prince Albert -- looks like over 350km without fuel.

I am looking luggage solutions though. I have a long checklist of things to bring along to prevent myself from being stranded along the way. I recall reading that you were throwing in that Amsoil to the buyer...  ;)

I wonder if I should consider getting extended warranty? Which I can purchase before the original warranty ends. I doubt anything will go wrong but the pricing seems very reasonable for peace of mind.

http://www.cbr300forum.com/forum/cb300f-general-discussion/14458-6000-mile-two-week-trip-300-a.html

I saw that! I didn't realize he did that in only two weeks though, I thought it was more like two months. So very applicable to me.

All I can think is that my ride report on ADV Rider (and here, of course) is going to be pretty epic.

That is very reasonable cost.   I guess you can look at that two ways.

There are basically no claims so it's cheap for them.

Or its cheap insurance.

Or you could just get CAA or similar from Costco.

If you need help packing, shoot me a PM.  Have gotten pretty good at it.  Stuff sacks (camping) are your friend, as is vacuum sealing.

Thanks! I'm really not going to have to pack a whole lot, anything I don't need will go back with my wife and kids on the airplane. What might add to my luggage is if I want to have the option of tenting it along the way, but that'll be easy to bungee to the pillion. I'm likely going to get a rack as well, and either a top box or duffel bag for clothes and repair tools plus a tank bag for water, snacks, my phone, etc. I have time to decide.

FWIW, I've seen more disasters with bungies on pillions than I care to remember.
