Pricing seems right. GS-L will probably be very popular. I wonder if you can install nav (as you can on the 3/6).
I hope it's still just a $500 SD card - that'd be the most 'fair' way of doing it, rather than saving it exclusively for GT.

Agreed.

Hopefully satellite radio isn't relegated to the top trim + tech package as in other Mazdas. Too bad there's no pano roof option.

Interesting pricing strategy.  The new, top "Signature" trim is hilarious...just trimwork.

In base trim (with AWD for $37k), this car is an amazing value.  The GS-L will be the most sought-after, I'd think, but certain things are curiously reserved for the GT trim (HUD, ACC, for example).

Still, I think it's priced rather well.

Strongly agree.  First time I have seen them come very close (or under cutting a Toyota).  The base trim is comparable to the Highlander LE with convenience pkg, and still a $1000 cheaper. And about $2k cheaper when equipped with AWD.  The GS-L is about $500 cheaper than the XLE AWD.

The Signature is about $1500 over priced.  Not sure if I like the change of removing the GX from the lineup, and adding the Signature instead.  I like the consistent two letter trim designations.  Not a fan of the Platinum, Titanium, Limited, Signature, Touring, Ultimate.

Yeah, it is unfortunate - and also makes me wonder if it truly is a 'bean counter effect' or the result of crash testing (Mazda explicitly stated that pano roofs compromise rigidity/roof strength).  Is the platform not strong enough, or is Mazda just not spending more $ to engineer the platform to work with a bigger moonroof?

We'll never know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To be fair, there was never a CX-9 GX.

True.  But I think it was mistake with the last gen.  GS or GT only (in Canada).  When pricing out the GS-L and the GT, the GT is $9k more.  But without $9k worth of options IMO.  This gen looks packaged much better.

it has to do much better in sales that the previous model, it couldn't get much worse.  Here are the yearly sales in Canada over the last six years
2010 - 1,282
2011 - 1,283
2012 - 1,412
2013 - 1,436
2014 - 1,543
2015 - 1,139

probably good buys on any left over 2015 models - if you can find one.

Wonder what targets they have set?  In the US, probably something like 40k units, and in Canada 3k.

in that same time frame in the US it varied from a high in 2011 of 34,421 units to a low of 18,048 in 2015.  I think I recall reading somewhere that they were projected about 50k units for both US and Canada.

Another winner from Mazda much better than a Crappy Pilot or Lowlander

So most auto makers are showing us their 2017 models and Mazda has not released the 2016 CX-9 to dealers yet...should they just call it a 2017 at this point?

Really,  not out yet??  ???
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

I always wondered that right from the first announcement, but Mazda is still referring to it as a 2016 in both Canada and the US, for all intents and purposes it will be a year old before it even gets onto the dealers lots vs its competition.
Earlier on the site it was saying June for availability now its says available soon but as it will be June in a couple of weeks its the same thing.

I must have been hallucinating but I was sure I got a "build and price" page for the 2016 CX-9 earlier this week.
Today the link from the Overview page gives me a 404 error.
It does seem to be getting late for introducing a new 2016 model. Wonder what's holding it up?
I'm skeptical of the long term viability of small displacement forced air engines in bigger vehicles, the CX-9 and the Volvo XC90 being prime examples.

'Cause you can only drive down Main St. so many times

Yep, that's a lot of vehicle to be hauled around by a 4 pot year after year.

There is No interior pictures, no point in even opening this link

Well, only if you are interested in how the thing drives, I suppose.  ::)  And I count over a dozen interior pics if that's all you're interested in.
