Driving back to my home in Germany after a weekend in Luxembourg and Metz, reminded of why I don't like driving on the autobahn that much.
To the uninitiated, the German autobahn brings images of wide-open, multi-lane freeway, with no speed limit, nice scenery, and the "joy of driving".
The reality is far from that. Endless road work that drags on for years, 5-10km stretches of contraflow, random or closed ramps that are poorly signed and force you to processeverythingallatonce. Due to the collector roadway being closed, if you want to join the A6 in direction Saarbruck (abbreviated SB far right), the makeshift ramp is immediately underneath the bridge. To turn around and head onto the A6 in direction Mannheim (abbreviated MA far right), you exit now and cross over the autobahn on another roadway.
The photo was a perfect example, exiting a rest stop. Luckily because you're just leaving the rest stop, there's not much traffic and you're only rolling 50. So you have about 5 seconds to process all of this NOW.
Contraflow is fun too, NOT. Sorry the clip is a bit long, was concentration too hard on avoiding the car fire at the very end in the right lane.
