2018 Toyota RAV4 Trail
« on: August 11, 2017, 06:09:16 pm »
It's a more rugged RAV4 with more ground clearance. Both things are nice for sure but the biggest deal with the Trail is 3,500 lb of towing capacity vs. 1,500 lb for all the other gas RAV4s. Looks like a compelling little SUV, other than that flat black stripe on the hood. What is that about?

That much towing increase without any engine updates? It almost feels it could get a 2.0t from the NX.

Beefed up transmission and oil cooler, not sure if the chassis is also beefed up.

Yeah, seems like an interesting offering that nobody will pay for.

...then again, how many Trailhawk trims does Jeep sell to Mall-goers?

Yeah, Trailhawks are everywhere. But I also think it's the only model that looks good.

I agree.  I'd say one out of every 3 Cherokee or Renegade I see is a trailhawk here in Fredericton.

In the CUV class, that's actually pretty "hardcore."

99.99% of CUVs, Jeeps included, don't see terrain more difficult than a Costco parking lot entry ramp.

Hatchbacks nowadays don't have official tow ratings. They want to sell us SUVs.

I was picking up the door latch for the kid's Forester today, and there was a new Crosstrek on the Subaru floor that was at least 3-4" higher than the regular one.

Factory?  Dealer lift?  It actually looked pretty awesome - I would have said "nope" but seeing it, I was surprised.  Looked great.

Indeed it was.

I kinda actually really like that  :o :o

It's not bad, seems like it could use slightly bigger wheels.
