Used 2017 ford escape
« on: September 08, 2020, 12:09:45 pm »
Hey, I'm looking to buy a used 2017 ford escape. It has 65,000km but I noticed the brake discs look rusted which is expected in Ontario but it seems much worse than my husband's 2017 crv. I added a picture.  Can someone tell me if this looks like they'd need to be replaced soon?not sure if the rust on the top part matters since the break pads don't touch there?

You can't post pictures until you have 10 posts, I think.

Rusty brake discs aren't a huge deal, especially if they're 65 000kms old.  Although if they're extremely rusty, it could be an issue.  Hard to tell without looking at the vehicle, or seeing pictures.

My advice would be to take the vehicle for a Pre-Purchase-Inspection at a trusted mechanic if you any doubts at all.  Should cost you about $100 - $150, and they'll let you know if there's anything wrong with the vehicle, what work it may need not too far in the future, or if everything checks out.
