Thinking of buy a gift for a friend. He loves coffee and whiskey.

So I found this while browsing the LCBO site:

http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo/product/kavi-reserve-coffee-blended-canadian-whisky/497891

Canadian start-up Kavi Coffee Blended Canadian Whisky. Has anyone tried it?

I have a feeling its going to be too sweet.
Sometimes when adding coffee flavored stuff to coffee, it's too much IMO.

Sweet is ok, as long as no other sugar is added.

I believe cane sugar and vanilla extract is added.
Yes, but it's a coffee liqueur...so might be too much coffee flavor for some when added to a cup of coffee if that's the intended use for this.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Having this now, such a great Rum.  Easily right up there with El Dorado 12.

If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Rum haul from Barbados.  Visiting St. Nicholas Abbey was an amazing treat.

Nice haul!  I'd love to try that 20 year old one.  The sampler pack is a really cool idea.

I never got to try the 20 onsite, just the 5 and 12.....both were amazing.  It was kind of a small boutique distillery but has been around since 1650.  They bottle everything by hand, and even etched a script on the glass bottle when I purchased it.  The sampler pack was $150 USD and the full bottle of 12 year was $120 USD so by no means cheap.  But it's exclusive to there, kinda like Westvletern XII is to the beer world, so I didn't want to pass it up.

What?  I thought the allowance was 10L of Rum each.   :rofl2:

I just claimed them and paid duty on three of them.  I watch too much Border Security to want to screw around with Customs officers.  lol

We only bring the limited as I would not want to screw up our Nexus card
How do they figure out the duty to be paid ?

If straight Zacapa doesn't convert you to drinking it straight, you won't ever be a rum guy.

Super easy, we brought home 3.75L from Punta Cana, you put the value down & they charge the duty based on that. In our case the Customs Officer stamped our claim & let us go without having to pay anything as we were only 1.75L over. But worth the few extra mins I'd say. At least they realize you're honest & not trying to sneak it thru.

^ Yep, exactly.  I'd much rather pay the duty than try and sneak it through.  Last thing I want to do is get caught lying on my declaration card.  I always bring back more than I'm allowed as I seek out stuff that isn't available here, so I just claim it, pay the duty, and be on my way.

We were camping in the States a few years ago and ended up bringing home a few extra bottles of wine. Declared everything, but it just wasn’t worth paying the duty, so I picked the two cheapest bottles and handed them over to the customs guy.

Can’t remember exactly, but it was something ridiculous like $10-20/bottle duty, so totally not worth it on a bottle of wine that barely cost $20 to begin with.

But I guess it could be worth it on an expensive bottle of wine or liquor. We only brought back two bottles of Scotch from our trip to Scotland, but in hindsight I probably should have checked into what it would have cost us to bring in more. Probably would have been worth it.

^ Nice haul, love the Maker's Mark!  I add it to some kegs of my Imperial Vanilla Porter and it's delicious.  Ever try the Wolf Blass Gold Label Cab Sav?  It's my go to wine under $25, it's fantastic!

No, will have to make note of that for next time! The GF & I both enjoy Cab Sav's. All the wines I bought were on sale, $2 -$3 off on a bottle, it's my way of experimenting. Though the Woodbridge & Wolf Blass we've had many times & enjoyed them. The Ruffino is a 1st time purchase, tho I did sample it in the store ;) My golfing buddy had some Makers Mark in his golf bag this past season & I really enjoyed it, so figured why not grab a bottle. And the Bailey's is for the GF as she enjoys that a lot at this time of the year.

^ What's a bottle of MM go for at the LCBO?  I believe it's $48 here at our ANBL stores.
