I love how thin the A pillars are in these old cars.

Sure, you'll die in a rollover but man, it's like a greenhouse in there.

And yeah, those MR2's are beautiful.  Shame the MkIII was so ugly.

I agree that the MKII MR2 are beautiful.  But I still think the MKIII MR2 are pretty nice.  I like it as a convertible.  And they are the best handling MR2 available.  Prefer the styling of the MKIII over the MKI.

Could be a little biased.  A friend of my mom's had one on the island of Menorca, a restaurant owner.  Took it for a spin after lunch, no international license!

Good luck on your quest Canuck!

Wow Shane, didn't realize you had an MR2. Was it supercharged?

The MkIIs are amazing looking cars, definitely one of my favourites from the early '90s. They're incredibly rare around here and even when they were new I don't remember ever seeing many. Good luck in your quest!

I have read a few reviews that said the MRII wasn't that fun to drive.  I wonder if that would still be considered the case when compared to modern cars.

Mine was an 86, so it wasn't Supercharged.  IIRC, the supercharged MKI's didn't arrive until 88.  Yeah, the MKIIs are extremely rare around here.......I honestly can't recall when I saw one on the roads last.

I thought my MKI was a hoot to drive.  Owned it for 13 years and never got bored of it.  I've driven a MKII Turbo a couple of times and thought it was a blast.......mind you, that was quite awhile ago now.  Would be interesting to compare one to my S2000 now.

Ah, so yours had the 4A-GE motor. Back in the day I had two different AE86 Corolla coupes with that engine. It's too bad they rusted apart.

I checked with my friend and he doesn't know of anyone selling in the Ottawa area.  He's been keeping an eye on Mk2s and finds those in the GTA are priced high and those in MTL are RHD.

Two old Toyotas I'd love are a MK2 MR2 turbo and a Celica All-Trac Turbo.

No kidding!

This and the MKII MR2 are close to 25 years old yet their designs are still modern and sexy.  Definitely the good ole days of Toyota (design and performance wise).

I almost bought an Celica All-trac when I was young but it was out if my budget. Now if 72 mth loans were popular back then I'm sure I would have done it.

The one you'd want is the Celica ST205 or the "WRC" model.  Although RHD only. 252HP,tuned by Yamaha, aluminum hood, etc,

But that's the one you'd want.

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

^ Gorgeous!  I'm not sure about others here, but IMHO these three cars in this this thread could easily pass for modern designs.

A co-worker has one of those. Brought it over from Japan a year ago. I haven't ridden in it, but had a good look at it this summer. Nice car.

Yes I would somewhat agree.  But with the pop up headlights, it's a dead giveaway when they were designed.  Not that I have anything against pop up headlights.

What about others like: Dodge Stealth, Mitsu 300, NSX, Supra?

NSX has aged AMAZINGLY well.  I like it better than ever.  I like it better than the new one.  When it was new, I thought it kinda "plain" for an exotic, but the lines have become classic and timeless.  It's performance is tepid compared to modern cars, but the looks really set it apart.  I'd rather have an old NSX than most new cars.

The FD RX-7 is still gorgeous, too bad the mechanical bits are junk.  Solved with a transplant - so you have a great looking franken-car.  I can live with that.

Totally agree.  Other than the Miata, my 2 favorites are the NSX and 300zx.  Not a fan of the newer NSX.

^^The new NSX is facking incredible.  Even more so after I read a very detailed write up in a car mag on how it came to be.  The trials and tribulations and effort put forth into the NSX is incredibly inspiring.

I respect the technical achievements they met.  But design wise, doesn't hold a candle to the previous gen.  Even if it was $50k I wouldn't buy it.  Don't care about some 9 speed hybrid.

Couldn't agree with you more, the original NSX to me is 1000x more desirable than the new one.
Lighten up Francis.....
