MKII MR2 Turbo
« on: January 19, 2017, 09:58:33 pm »
Ok, so I owned a MKI MR2 for a many years and loved it.  I've always wanted a MKII Turbo, but for one reason or another it never happened.  Given that I have the S2000 in the stable, it's not like I NEED another toy, but I really want to purchase an MKII regardless and would like to do it this year if the right one pops up.  Sooooo, if anyone sees one that's minty, please let me know.  I'm not interested in any that's been heavily modded as I prefer stock.

I'm potentially fine with some minor mods........just not interested in purchasing something out of Fast & Furious.  Still prefer stock though.

Hard to believe that car is 25 years old now.

I happen to know an owner of a 1991 turbo (I think it's a 91) that is very lightly modded, but otherwise absolutely like new.  It has <100K, has never seen snow, and the owner really takes care of his cars.

I'll see if he'd part with it.  It's part of a collection of cars he owns, so you never know...

These seem to be starting to go up in value a bit these days. Best to jump on it now. I test drove a non-turbo MR2 years ago. Fantastic car.

I love how thin the A pillars are in these old cars.

Sure, you'll die in a rollover but man, it's like a greenhouse in there.

And yeah, those MR2's are beautiful.  Shame the MkIII was so ugly.

There used to be a fairly active MR2 club that my motorsport club used to host lapping days and autocrosses for, dunno how active they still are, but here is their addy:

They have a forum, might be some for sale there.

These are going to be $25,000+ cars in a blink.  I mentioned this to someone on the forum a little while ago.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Ideally, you'd want a 1993+..but they are super rare.  But all of the extras on that mild refresh are worth it IMO.

But stock and low mileage?  Expect to pay the moon...though I did see a minty one in the US for a mere $10,500 in the fall.  By spring, that's a $20K US car.

Red one for sale in Riviere Du Loup, that's not too far, kinda.

Hmmm, not too bad.....my colour and low mileage.  Hate the wheels, but not a big deal though.

Here's the one from late fall, I believe.  Ad says it's a 1993..but it's not.  Wrong tailights.  And no dual airbags are the dead giveaways.

Here's a minty red one, with cloth (bleh!) that sold a few days ago
