I omitted the RX-7 because as much as I love the car, the engine is made of glass.  An FD with an engine transplant, yes please.

On one of the track days I attended a guy showed up in a newer RX-7.  The car was quick, but half way through one of the 20 minute sessions his dash lit up like a Christmas tree.
After coming into the pits and staring at his engine for 10 minutes he tried to restart his car.
Wasn't going to happen.
He had to get it towed home.  :P

I think thats pretty well 95% of rotary owner stories, "....so yeah, the car came home on a tow truck...again".
Lighten up Francis.....

The early first generation Rx-7 cars seem to be really reliable. But as soon as you add boost to a rotary reliability takes a noise dive. Although the Rx-8s seem to have quite a few issues too. So maybe the 80s was the only time the rotary was reliable.

You don't see too many MKI's around now.  This one seems to be in stellar condition.  A cheap toy for sure!

Man, if I had the garage space (and money), I'd have a fleet of 80s and 90s Japanese cars (Supra, Celica, 300ZX, NSX, etc).  At least you'd be guaranteed to find a manual in them.

I took the car cover off the MR2 today and got it out of storage.  I ended up taking it for a brief 10 minute drive (damn it feels sooooooo good to row your own gears again), but that will be it until I get back from Barbados later this month.  The roads are still too damn sh!tty here and I don't want to take any chances.  On a side note, I switched to Antique auto insurance this year....premium went from $216 per annum last year to $144 this year.  Crazy cheap.

Looks like a million bucks man. Lol and just what I said in my own thread last weekend.....feels so good to row the gears again.

Love it!

lol Antique auto insurance.  I don't think "antique" when i look at that MR2

MX-5 insurance just renewed at $810 which i thought is good.  $144 is way more good.
Is that for 6 months & with a mileage limit?

Premium is $144.76, which is for the year.  1 million liability, $100 deductible, and no mileage limit.  They specialize in Antique vehicles and my Dad always insured his classic Mustangs through them, I figured I would change to them from my regular Insurance agent for this car, glad I did.  Not that my previous premium of $216 was bad either though.

As much as I would LOVE to do that, my summer will be virtually flat out at the brewery and I won't have any time to get away for an extended time.  :(

So the front plate is coming off as I can't stand running front plates.  In NB we have "seasonal" plates that allow you to run with only a rear plate from April to the end of October.  Of course they cost extra money to have one less plate  ::), but whatever.  I ended up getting a personalized plate for the rear as well.  Colour coded bumper plugs have been ordered as well to fill in the holes after the front plate has been removed.
