Surprising

Not too surprising.  Without a decent Diesel engine option or two it was never going to compete with the 5 series or E Class.

I read the title as "Genesis sales went trough the roof".

I wonder how G80 does now when it is a separate brand compared to when it was a Hyundai Genesis. Anyone have the sales numbers?

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

Biggest problem was no diesel and no 2.0 litre turbo. Those would be the bread and butter models in the UK.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Not having lived there for a while, but I think the Brits are too entrenched in German brands in the executive segment.

This.  Lexus and Infiniti are still bit players in the UK.  If it's not German, Jag, or Land Rover they won't drive it.
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

But Doc Martin drives one, and psychological profiler Blake Albrighton in The Loch drives one

They don't sell near the number they sell in NA.  I don't think the Germans or the UK lux brands worry about them at all.  Probably just product placement deals...  That's why The Saint drove a Volvo.  Jag wouldn't lend them a car.

No smaller cars in the lineup?
