I really like the appearance of the new Pathy, as with the other crop of new trucks & SUVs at Nissan.  The 4.0L V6 should be a winner.

And that's all I have to say about that.

before buying my GC i tested a couple of cars and others SUVs...

The main difference between the Path and the GC for me are in two areas:

- how the 4wd system works: i consider the one in the GC far better and more refined than the one in the Path...go for a test drive and u'll note the difference)
- engine power: I didnt like the engine power, i considered it to be slow in all specs, far away from my GC that boasts a hemi powered and lots and lots of torque....

The equipment of both are about the same, so i think if ur really into the SUV marketing the new GC is worth a look...

Indigo…..Welcome to Canadian Driver. The Pathfinder is a fine SUV with an excellent history of quality and reliability. My mother ahs owned two over the past 15 years without any problems. The latest version sounds like it will follow its predecessor and provide many reliable years of service.

I would compare all models in your range and consider the reliability history and quality issues for each brand. An excellent guide to start your search is a recent Automotive Consumers Reports magazine.

I don't think the NEW Pathy was available when you were SUV shopping, Multi.  Sure it doesn't have a 'Hemi' but...

I know it wasn't on the market when I was shopping...but I like the new Pathfinder.  You'll never find value in the upscale model trim as it pushes the price to north of 50K....which takes you into some pretty nice machines.  If you don't need the leather, the DVD player, the navi system, a basic Pathfinder will have the same engine...that's where the value lies.

I happened to be at my Nissan dealer for the un-veiling of the new Pathfinder.  It looks good, has some nice power and should be reliable.  If memory serves the interior was pretty nice as well, as one of the new generation of Nissan interiors.  If I was in the market for an SUV and had the bucks, I would look hard at an XE (base) model.  It's a few G's less than competing Japanese models, looks better (IMO) and has more power.

I don't like it.  It looks like a giant box.  The former model actually looked like an SUV with lots of ground clearence, athletic lines.  It was the Japanese equivalent of the GC - function AND utility.  THe '05 looks like a Ford Exploder.  I haven't seen any off-road testing but it looks like the focus on style and comfort, not functionality (i.e., true utility).  One of the few remaining true SUV's has turned into a minivan.

My comments will pretty much echo many of the posts above. I have not driven the new Pathy and seen it only in a sort of cursory way; but what I see and read about it, I do think it will be a good, reliable, tough off-road capable model for Nissan. The old one has a good reputation for reliability and toughness. It's big (but the Armada is HUGE) and I'm not sure I need the tough off-road ability, so I'm not looking at it myself. Drive it and the current Toy. 4Runner back to back. It is pricey but they all are. As was noted above, if you load it up with all the gadgets, it will go over $50k. The value is in the "stripper" model.

I don't like the styling much either, like Saint.

I find the integration of the rear side window and the boxy back end a real turn off.

Mechanically, sounds really powerful and all, but can't get past it. Looks blah to me. I actually think the Highlander is handsome beside it!

Too boxy... Like a box.
People like driving boxes now?
Come to think of it... Nissans vehicles have become more like boxes; okay so maybe i can only name two.. the Titan and the Pathfinder.

The Murano and the Infinity "suvs" are not SUVs, they are really Crossovers - they are not off-road vehicles. About 7" of clearance and no low range.

Murano is based on the fwd Altima/Maxima, platform, FX is based on the rwd G35/Z, SAVs, not SUVs as mentioned. But Nissan has more offerings still ...

I think the new Pathy is pretty attractive, a little busy in the side window details, but brawny, blocky and strong-looking, as an SUV should be. If you don't want a box, don't buy a truck. I am a bit astonished at the size of the thing, though. It's HUGE. My cottage neighbour has a lovely first-generation Pathfinder, and it's no bigger than my X-Trail. What's with the creeping gigantism?
"Could they have any more SUVs?" Well, they could build the concepts above, or they could just start importing the Patrol and the Terrano. Yes, they could have more SUVS.
