Okay this makes the Ford Expedition seem cheap $-wise...

Regardless, they are both overpriced - no wonder you never see the Summit model around.

yea, but no one pays MSRP for a domestic...i mean, just last week, FCA had 35% off MSRP on a many of their vehicles....but they typically still offer at least 20-25% off MSRP...they often have the typical asterisk, so you're limited to a few trim levels and have to pick something on the lot, but if you aren't too picky, you can certainly save a ton of money off the MSRP, which likely means you'll get the vehicle for what it's actually worth.
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

Wish I could upgrade the Uconnect on mine to get the Android Auto & a few other features  :-\

It's pricey, but usually they're offering a bit of cash on the hood of these... I've seen a few new 2018 SRT's for this price, like this one.  http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Jeep/Grand+Cherokee/Toronto/Ontario/5_35763537_ON20080728104010526/?showcpo=ShowCPO&orup=17_15_52

Whoah whoah whoah, Trader is for new cars, too?   :rofl2:

Nice find - and yeah, MSRP vs sales price is always an exercise in lacking reason.

Interesting note, Pritch, about the headlights...I always thought you liked the headlights, but then went searching for your old GC articles and couldn't find any specific reference the way you have in other models (even the Prius)!

The standard LED lighting system is also above average: with a great cut-off line, even light output, good reach, good peripheral illumination, and crisp colour.

Any way, great vehicle - questionable price.  All good.

At this price , Jeep would need to offer a great lease rate
To Buy this used after 3 years is the only way to go

i'm not sure how that would work...considering the massive discounts given on new, the residuals are likely low(ish) compared to MSRP.

that said, used Jeeps don't go cheap.

grand cherokees have 5k on the hood... that will help. plus, one of the few FCA vehicles with mark-up...

anyway, surprising about both the headlights and brakes... did they get submerged off-roading or something? i found them grabby as hell in the summit i was just driving... plus all the active brake assist and all that seems to help. headlights, this one would have the active highbeam as well, so it will bump up to highbeam whenever the situation calls (and you aren't blinding your fellow motorists)... lights are always a tough one... we all want ours to be the brightest, but if someone coming at you has the best, you are blinded and are cursing at them.

the suspension, glad you noted the harshness at times. that one i just had out seemed decent (it was an 18... which is what you'll get if you shop for one right now) compared to last years... in off-road II mode, the suspension did NOT like bumps... the new one seems to have a little bit of travel in reserve.

the summit is nice and all, but i'd just be going for an overland if you want luxury, or trailhawk (with luxury group) for more rugged nature but still the toys... still has the suspension and all that, but you can buy em in the mid 50's right now.
