This view,

when you're riding on a motorcycle, always gives a bit of pause.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

When I am driving behind certain trucks, especially flatbeds, it scares the sh!t out of me thinking what would happen if I were rear-ended and pushed forward into them.

Weird...I find paying attention and not daydreaming is best when driving.    ;)

For me, that is nearly always an "overtake at the next possible opportunity" indicator when i'm on my motorcycle.

I am all for the crash bars, but sometimes you just can't help stupidity....

Yesterday on the 401 some SUV somehow got OVER the concrete divider into the median, which was under construction and plowed into a big digger/crane thing....I drove by and couldn't even understand how he got over the cement divider.

Then there's guys like this (happen right in front of my office earlier this year):

Can't fix stupid.

Many years ago, on a motorcycle, I was following a car with a low trailer full of 4’ X 8’ sheets of plywood. When I noticed they did not seem to be tied down in any way, I slowed to give a lot of room between him and me. Within a minute, sheets were flying off the trailer.

Would have been messy if I would have stayed close to him.

One issue with loads like the one the white CRV pictured ran into is that it can be really hard to tell how far behind the truck it extends if they haven't flagged it - which seems to happen a lot more now.  The end of that girder/log can be dark and blend in with the rear of the truck.  Yeah, give trucks a wide berth, and I bet that the Honda driver wasn't fully paying attention, but improper loads are an issue too.
