Theres a fantastic guy on youtube, car care nut, he's a Toyota master tech. Watched his video about what to look for in a Tundra, he mentioned the cam towers as they are a pricey item to fix. Will look for oil leaks, thanks all for the heads up.
Lighten up Francis.....

That is not something you will ever hear from me. I'm fully aware that buying a V8 truck will not result in a 3 cylinder hybrid type of mileage. I hate high gas prices as much as anyone else, but the fuel mileage of my vehicles is what it is.

Ya he knows his Toyota's.  If you've seen that video then you're all good.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

That dude is a wealth of knowledge, he should be mandatory reading if one is on the market for a Toyota/Lexus.

The 5.7 really likes to drink. I also am fond of the GM 6.2L but unsure if it is saddled with AFM. I also wouldn't mind a F150 with the 5.0.

All the GM engines have AFM issues, Hemis have the DOD and the Fords are...well Fords. I'm not interested in buying a GM and spending a few grand to do a AFM delete.

Buddy at work just took his '18 with 80k kms in for a "diagnosis" last weekend.  He was told $7500 to $15000 depending on if it needed work or a new engine.  He went home with a new truck.  Haha.  Lots of guys out there with lots of miles also, so I dunno.  Would be nice to have a stat on how common it is.

Its a well known issue, but is it one of those well known but not common, or well known because a lot have had it happen to them. Had a buddy out in Ontario who's 2020 Yukon Denali blow the engine at 60k kms. I don't know if its worth the gamble, the 6.2 is a fantastic engine, but the DI and DOD, eeeekkkk.

When did the 6.2L go DI? It's settled then;  a GMT800 with the 6.0L or an older Tundra before they got the douchey hood.  ;D

This?

Thats too old.....

So you want a big screen?

Android car play would be nice, but even a bluetooth connection would work. Don't need a huge touchscreen, but something newer than a tape player would be nice.

What about a new Tacoma?

I didn't even bother looking at it, turbo, DI, too many moving pieces. Maybe I'll go have a look, but unless they made the cab for adults, its not even in the running.

Rear seats are small.  Tight for adults for sure.

Do us all a favor, put a deposit on a new Landcruiser.

Edit: or an old one.  I believe in you!

Naahhh, I tried to talk the wife into a LX570 when we were shopping for her, I have no want/need for another SUV. Though.....I should have snapped up my dads Sequoia when he was selling it.
