Well, that didn't take long  ;D

I noticed a strong gassy smell in the garage last night. When I backed the XK8 out there were 2 6" puddles of gas on the floor under the engine. I had been in the car with the ignition on several times while trying to reprogram the dash language from French to English (no luck  :( ).   I left it outside last night and when I investigated further today it's leaking at the fuel pressure regulator with a pretty steady dribble.....not exactly spraying/pouring out but not a drip either. Can't tell yet if it's the regulator or just O rings.

Not the end of the world ( I actually had a "mental" allowance of spending $2K+/- for odds and ends after I got it here.)  PITA though  ::)

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Well that sucks but hopefully it's an easy fix...or you have an easy out for "accidentally" burning your vehicle to the ground.   ;D

have you put gas in it since you got it?...if so, maybe there is a leak in the upper part of the fuel system (tanks, gas lines, etc) and it only happens when they car is over half full or something like that.

If it's not leaking something, then you should be worried.  It's British, leaks mean that there's fluids.

Yes, I did fill it up when I got it but it didn't start leaking for 24+ hours after that. I can actually see the leak at the pressure regulator on the back end of the rail.

Please don't park or issues until the leak is addressed. My wife's cousin had an older Camaro convertible and one night they awoke to a neighbour pounding on their door screaming: "GET OUT!!  FIRE!!"  The Camaro, the Altima beside it, and much of their house went up in flames. 4 of them were sleeping when it started.

"park or issues"?  I assume you mean "park in the garage"
Very good advice.....you can rest assured it is outdoors and won't be driven until this issue is addressed.

On another note fuel pressure regulator from NAPA Canada....$335  Autopartsway Canada $220 with free shipping. From RockAuto....$179 CAD with 3 day express  shipping included.
  WTF NAPA?  ::)

Speaking of FBC, my mom encountered this problem on her LR.  She went to get a chip in here windshield fixed, and was told that because it's a heated windshield, they can't do anything for her.  She has to wait until the windshield eventually cracks (if ever) and needs to be replaced, and then it can be done (MPI covers a full windshield replacement).

Technically, I don't think this is specifically an FBC problem, but rather, any luxury vehicle that has a heated windshield.

Fuel leak appears to have been an O ring and not the pressure regulator itself.  :)

there you go...that's a very FBC thing to happen...if it were an FGC, it would have been the pressure regulator...and pump...and sensor. ;)
