Well my son took his truck into the local Ford Dealership with the check engine light on, seems the timing change needs to be replaced !!!!..98K on it (thank god for the warrenty which is 100k)..THIS IS FORD TOUGH!!!  98k AND THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDS REPLACING wtf...I think I will stay with my Honda civic 8)

That definitely seems like a standard maintenance dilemma! I don't think there are any underlying issues with your vehicle.

That definitely seems like a standard maintenance dilemma! I don't think there are any underlying issues with your vehicle.

A timing BELT would need replacing around 100K km, a timing CHAIN should be at least 250-300km.

Timing chains are not immune to problems and are also subject to wear. Lack of oil changes, low oil levels, etc. can infact cause significant wear. Although my knowledge does not exactly stretch too deep into the issue as I am not in the service department  :)
