on paper it almost sounds perfect.

but I worry about the emission control parts as well.

Long term reliability of the engine is unknown here but the company making does have a good record.  MPGs are impressive, check out this comparison test.  It beat the second place Toyota by almost 6 mpg US.

New gen Diesels are just the bomb when the entire powertrain is under 100% warranty.  After that they are extremely expensive to repair.

The fuel pressure in that RAM diesel is 29,000 psi  :rofl2:

So if you get one make sure you get the fully comprehensive warranty for your length of ownership.

But in the end, diesels only pay off for big vehicles towing big loads and a commercial budget to deal with the issues that will occur over time.

Couldn't agree with you more.  They can be stupid expensive to repair and if the previous owner was up to date in maintenance or decided to do "mods" to the engine controller and related items, it's just a ticking time bomb.

Enjoying the Alberta advantage

I personally have not. But we have had a few come in with air filter packed with snow. I did do a Used Vehicle inspection on one last week that had 8000km's on it. I checked the vehicle history and he had no concerns that I could see. Not sure why he traded it in.

Here is an interesting thread about a guy with a camper , a bit heavier then what I carry
he avg 13.6 L/100lm

Total miles = 3,306.30
 Total Gallons 176.904
Avg MPG for the trip 18.662 but I guess I already said that.

For the rest of the world the truck averaged 13.6 L/100K

I am usually in the 15 to 16 range
