TWELVE HUNDRED BUCKS FOR A HONDA ALTERNATOR ON A 2009?

 :o

I bought the OE Denso for the Corolla and felt a little sore for paying $200.

I honestly thought the MDX/Pilot one was <$300.

well for the entourage, the part in CDN dollar is around $250.  Doesn't include shipping.  Plus dealers mark it up.  So about $400-$450.  Have no idea what labour is involved?  3 hours?  then taxes..

Can it wait? Like order the party and have an indy do it?

Or have you been violated already?

I'm not sure I'd even do that.

I just go to the local alternator rebuilding place. Usually under $100.

My 63 year old Aunt passed away this morning.  Even though she lived fairly close by, I really wasn't all that close to her. But I feel really bad for my Mom at the moment.  She especially misses my Dad this time of year, her 95 year old Mom is in the hospital, and she just lost her Sister this morning.  :(

Only 63 , that sucks

Incorrectly thinking the extended warranty had yet to expire, I had it towed to the stealership in the wee hours of the night when it died.  Work not done yet but the car is dead.  Not worth my time / effort to have it towed elsewhere.

They even blast and repaint the alternator...looks like brand new!

My FIL has been slowly succumbing to a combination of COPD and congestive heart failure.  He smoked like a chimney for 50 years plus other lifestyle factors, so considering he's in his late 80s, he made it pretty far.  Docs were talking "a couple years or so" and suddenly today they're discussing palliative care.

He's never been close or caring with his children, and he's a difficult person to be around, but I still don't like when people I know suffer.

He overtorques and then denies it... ;)
I pulled out the owner's manual, checked the proper torque, and applied it correctly with a wrench that's <6 months old and properly stored at zero in its case.

I do not overtorque.  You insult me, Sir!

...now, if you suggest that I am slow, or too afraid to take on tasks that I've never done, guilty as charged.  ;)

Had the MDX in for service today.  When I went to pick it up they had performed their regular checks and servicing for a "B12" service.  I thought the charges were a bit high (1.6hrs at $150/hr) for the checks/servicing items, not including the oil change.  We hadn't discussed them doing these checks, however I didn't tell them not to and the items are listed for a B12 service, so I was willing to pay and I did.  Being skeptical, I checked a few things over when I got home.  There is a few items of which I could tell were not done, including tire rotation/balancing and lubricate caliper pins.  I don't give a :censor: that the tires weren't rotated as I had just put the winters on, however I feel like I'm being robbed for items that weren't done.  I'll give the service manager a call in the morning.

The idea was that I'd have the dealer service the vehicle while under warranty, but I feel inclined just to do it myself.

Spoke to service manager on 13th, sent email the same day with pics. No response so on the 15th so I called service manager again. I was pleasant, and expressed that I would rather the outcome be that I was incorrect and that they could explain somehow that the work was performed. He said tech had been off for a couple days and that he壇 get back to me today. Didn稚 happen.

Acura Canada emailed a questionairre about my service experience so I filled it out tonight. I知 not chasing this anymore, not worth my time. I知 assuming now that there will be no resolve (I知 not willing to take car back at this point either which they would likely request if they did get back to me) so I値l likely head to Honda while under warranty in the future, or just service myself.

Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

2009 with 165k.

Oh, common repair on the 07-13 models. The alternator isn't cheap, but not outrageous either.

The quote was $1200, which seemed outrageous to me!

With or without HST?   ;)      Problem with GTA Acura dealers is they act like they're MB dealers.

Ended up being $1100.  That consisted of alternator, battery, labour and taxes.

They use the designer Vaseline there, eh?

Crappy dealer by the sound of it. A google review might help but not worth it on Holidays perhaps. Do regular oil changes at Honda if your care about the maintenance records and a reputable indie mechanic is great for everything else in the manual. Unless you like buying your special oil like many gearheads do, then it's just the mechanic.  :)

Had to take a quick trip to the Okanagan. Took a huge rock flung by a logger truck. Had some brisk mountain air con for some of the trip.

hope you got the truck company etc. - they should pay for everything. Happened to my Alfa couple of years ago, boy were they sorry they let a rock hit my car...
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.
