Truck "demographics"
« on: January 16, 2018, 09:54:29 pm »
Observation based on my time in the GTA. Amongst the D3 truck lineups:

-GM / Chev drivers tend to be the most "urbane" of the lot. Generally pretty normal people who just want a truck. Decent number of contractors (although I see plenty of Sprinters etc. in contractor crowd these days).

-Ford drivers also are generally pretty normal peeps. You do get the occasional outlier driving a jacked up Raptor or some crazy thing, but by and large its normal peeps.

-RAM drivers are almost universally moronic rednecks. Needless lift kits, wheel sticking out 10 inches past the fender, obnoxious muffler kits, weaving in traffic and tailgating the :censor: out of everyone with no regard for public decency, nailing the throttle and making like a semi-truck with the amount of soot they toss into the sky. Imagine the trashiest of white trash - these guys are it.

But the question is why? From an outside perspective all of these trucks look pretty much similar.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

I wonder if RAM is more willing to roll accessories into the loan. Dunno. I am constantly amazed how some people are able to afford a $60k with $30k worth of extras installed.

Same here in Truck Country Alberta.  I often wonder why RAM drivers don't understand that the name of their truck is a noun, and NOT a verb.

Always used to be Chev/GM was the more conservative 'established' brand, Ford the alternative, and Dodge a bit out there.

Ie in pop/farm equipment equivalents:

Chev = Coke/John Deere
Ford = Pepsi/International
Dodge = Dr Pepper/White

Funny that Ram owners are similar in the GTA. Here in Alberta they tend to look/act the same way, by far the most careless and reckless drivers out there. In a local 'douchbag' drivers survey Ram got about 70% of the votes, This always boggles my mind...what is about Ram trucks? This is obviously a nationwide trend. Is it easy financing (attracting more :trashy: types?) the smell of the truck causes it? I really don't get it lol.

Yeah, here in Edmonton a diesel ram with a BB decal, thats 'Berta Boys, is the absolute pinnacle of douchebaggery. Rolling coal on anything they consider inferior is their favorite pastime.
Lighten up Francis.....

There was a Ram pickup on the local lot here for ages: bright pink with Zebra stripes. I assumed it must have sold to a stripper exotic dancer, but was surprised to see it driving around town the other day with a dude behind the wheel.  ???  He was wearing a trucker cap, but surprisingly was not wearing white Oakley Oil Cans.  ???  ???

Not me, but my brother and brother in law both have fairly new Rams. I should show them this thread.  ;D

Yeah my brother in law has a Ram, hardly fits the stereotype, he's a drywall taper, uses the truck for all his materials & tools.

Brother runs a youth intervention centre in NS and my brother in law is an RCMP dog handler, and has a hobby farm.

They don't really fit either.

The reason Ram driver's seem like the biggest douchenozzles is because the Ram is loved by the young flat brimmed wearing bruhs.  It's seen as the most aggressive, badass looking truck.  I should know, my nephew is one of them.  Most of the young dudes drive like jackasses.

However, every brand is subject to being driven by a douchenozzle.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

I haven't been seeing as many bro trucks around since the downturn. Maybe they don't come into town as often.

While absolutely true, seems that the Ram brand attracts, by far, the most degenerates.
